  1. I've been a nurse for about nine years. The last four years, I've been taking travel assignments (from two different travel companies) in rural and urban places where my wage varied wildly according to needs. I'm about to interview for a permanent job in Manhattan. How do I negotiate my pay?
  2. Thank you for the quick reply hobiecute! Very informative. I will look into medical-surgical missions--
  3. Thanks purplechicxiii! As I understand this, "(a) He/she is a citizen of the Philippines, or a citizen or subject of a country which permits Filipino nurses to practice within its territorial limits on the same basis as the subject or citizen of such country: Provided, That the requirements for the registration or licensing of nurses in said country are substantially the same as those prescribed in this Act;" ---------- since the USA allows Filipino nurses to practice within its territorial limits, I should be allowed to practice within the Philippines. It does look as though I must take the licensing exam even though I carry a US nursing license and a BS in nursing? Has anyone met a US nurse working in the Philippines?
  4. I am an American nurse with a BS in nursing and over a year's experience of hospital floor work. I am interested in international travel and want to work in the Philippines perhaps beginning summer 2012. I am having trouble finding information on the Internet about foreign nurses coming to work in the Philippines and I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I would like to work in Manila, but it doesn't have to be there-- What is the job market like currently? Is it difficult for an American to get a job in the Philippines? Any info would be helpful.
  5. I have read about the nursing shortage in Greenland and am wondering if anyone has any experience or information about nursing in Greenland. I am a new grad and will have a USA Nursing License and no experience. I am curious about licensure in Greenland, red tape, salary, and experience. Thanks in advance for your help.
  6. I am looking for information about the International Nursing License. Is there a Board for International Nursing? Is there a separate test from the NCLEX? I am a new grad and curious about what an International Nursing License permits one to do? I am having trouble finding information about it on the Internet that is not an advertisement or a job search engine. Thanks in advance for any information regarding International Nursing Licensure.
  7. Hello, The allnurses member Kaylesh may be able to best answer this question, but I cannot private message her yet (still have less than 15 posts...) -- everyone else's replies are greatly appreciated. My girlfriend (of years) just obtained a professorship at St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. I will complete my BSN in August and want to join her there. According to the NHS, it looks like I need a year of experience before I am allowed to work in the UK. I am trying to figure out what other options I have... Can I work a nursing internship in Scotland? Do they exist? Is it a better idea to take an auxiliary post in Scotland now or is there no hope of ever becoming an RN that way? Is it possible to go straight for a Master's in the UK (without practicing)? And then is it possible to practice in the UK if my Master's was obtained there? Any other ideas? Thank you so much for the help.
  8. Here is my predicament: I am four months from finishing nursing school. My girlfriend (who I've lived away from for a year anyway) has just received a job offer she cannot refuse in Fife, Scotland. I am wondering if it is possible to work there without any experience... NHS Scotland doesn't make that look likely. I am also confused about whether one needs an agency to get a job in Scotland (or whether one can apply directly). Really, I cannot bear living apart from her for another year gleaning experience... What are my other options? Thanks for any advice you have..
