What W.Virginia towns/cities do you recommend working in and why?
I agree with Blackcat. I grew up an hour north of Wheeling. I don't live in West Virginia but I do still live in the area. I wouldn't suggest anyone to move to this area. There are more bars, gambling places, and a couple strip clubs here. The schools are awful and it is a drug infested area. I wouldn't reccomend West Virginia at least where I grew up. And yes, I know drugs are everywhere but these are small towns in this area. Kristen

nursing or teaching??
Kona2, Thank you for your insight. I too have been jumping back and forth for quite sometime whether I should go into teaching or nursing. Your in depth description of what is expected of teachers is very eye opening. I was under the impression that teachers had good hours except the first couple of years. My interests actually are more geared toward healthcare. One reason is the fact that I get bored so easily. I like the interesting things you learn with the body and the flexibility. My big fear with nursing is I am afraid I will not be able to handle the smells. I have a high sense of smell. Also, I was afraid I would not have time for my family with working long hours at such a grueling job. Your post other than the smell part has made me see that even if I were to become a nurse, I would still have time for my family. Thanks, Kristen

you might be from ohio if:
I'm not offended the rest of my family is from Ohio and I've been called a hoopie by them all my life. It's pretty funny to me. Kristen

I'm originally from West Virginia. Hoopies are what West Virginians are called. Just thought you'd like to know.

***Chemistry - Fall 2005***
I feel for you. If I cannot get the material for this class I will drop the class. I will not fail it. I can't afford to fail it. I will stick it out for a little while longer to see how it goes.

***Chemistry - Fall 2005***
That's okay if you don't know. This is basic chemistry but we have a professor who is jumping around on topics. I was looking at the rest of the worksheet and we haven't even covered these types of problems in class yet. I think I will talk to her before class starts. No nursing classes yet. Thanks, Kristen

***Chemistry - Fall 2005***
Wondering if someone could help with a problem. Here goes: A patient is given 1L of glucose solution intravenously. If the solution contains 100 g glucose, a carbohydrate, how many kilocalories would the metabolism of that glucose produce? Thanks, Kristen

What to do...WHAT TO DO?!?! Please help!!!
I live in East Liverpool and have lived in this area all of my life. It is not that bad of a town. The reason the town looks like a crap hole is because of economics. This area used to be booming back in the steel mill days and also back in the pottery days. These places have gone out of business and people now mostly travel to Pittsburgh and Youngstown/ Cleveland for jobs. Kent EastLiverpool is a nice little branch. The crime is pretty low compared to that of other places. I feel pretty safe here. Pittsburgh is within one hours drive and Youngstown is within 1 hours drive and Cleveland 2 hours. There isn't much to do here but you don't have to go to far if you want to do something. If you really feel like you hated that bad here then I would not come but I would not totally cross it off your list. Kristen

Anyone attend Youngstown State
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has attended nursing school at Youngstown State and if so how did you like the school and the program? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks, Kristen

Where did you go to nursing school?
NeuroICURN, I am attending the Weirton Campus in the fall. I don't know if I will stay. I just moved to Ohio and was maybe going to attend YSU starting in the spring. I think it would be about the same cost either way. I would like to get a bachelors and go on in the long run but maybe I will get my associates and then let a hospital reimburse my education to go on. Thanks for letting me know how you liked it. Kristen

Opinions on Kent State
Annie, Science is my toughest subject. Which science pre-reqs did you retake and can I ask what your grade was in them the first time and after you retook them? If you don't want to pubilicly(sp.) display that info. you can email me privately I don't mind. I would only have the science pre-reqs to do and a couple of general classes left to do. I had Connie Stopper as a distance course for Intro. to Nursing about 2 years ago. I thought she was really nice. That's just my opinion though. Thanks for letting me ramble. Kristen
