Standing on my feet....HORRIBLE BACK PROBLEMS! Need shoe help!
Thanks for all the advice! Right now I wear nike shocks and I love them, so I think i'll probably just go for another pair. I think i've just wore mine down so much that they're not working anymore. Went to the doctor today and got xrays, so the specialist is the next move..hopefully everything turns out ok!

Standing on my feet....HORRIBLE BACK PROBLEMS! Need shoe help!
I'm a 19 year old nursing student, but while i'm in school, I am working full time in a local gas station. I have to stand on my back for 8-10 hours a day. I was diagonised with a genetic back problem when i was younger, and was pretty much told I had to deal with it. The problem i'm running into is my back is killin me after about 5 hours. I'm going to get a new pair of shoes, and figured I'd ask for everyone's opinion on their favorite comfy shoes. Keep in mind...I'm not in school yet, I just want a good "fun" shoe to wear. Ex. ..Nike, Adidas, New Balance... I've seen fellow nurses wear them in hosptials, and figured someone has to have a good experience with a shoe. p.s.... I'm going to a specialist to hopefully get this back problem under control...If i can't handle 9 hours...how can i do 12 or 13?

Breast Reduction?
Thanks for the great advice. My daughter is about 5'4/5'5. We are going to strongly start talking to her chiropractor, family doctor, and even her pt. Hopefully it won't take very long for her to get approved because when she starts school, other than christmas time there won't be another time she could get it done. Thanks for the great advice. We willkeep everyone posted!

Breast Reduction?
My daughter will be 19 next month. She is very well endowed for her body type. She has never been properly fitted for a bra but yesterday she tried on a 38D and it is now too small. They just seem to be getting bigger. She weighs about 155 which she would like to lose about 15lbs. but when she does take off pounds it doesn't come off in that area. The other problem is the back pain she has had since freshman year. She does have a medical condition that a few vertabrae do not line up. She has back pain almost all the time. She goes to a chiropracter on a regular basis and has for years, he has even told us to consider letting her have a breast reduction that it might help. She brought this subject up yesterday. I don't think our insurance will cover it because they consider it elective surgery. I do know a friend who has the same insurance and she fought with them and was able to have it done. I'm going to talk to her this weekend. I guess I am looking for some feedback on this whole thing. If you have you any info that could help us out I would really appreciate it. Thank you! P.S.- My daughter is going to school in the fall to be an RN. I figured you guys might know of some people that had the surgery done. With her doing clinicals and being on her feet for hours on end, having a bad back is bad enough, but maybe taking some of this weight off could help. Thanks!

Being an RN with an Associates Degree or a Bachelors Degree.....
I"m sorry about my inadvertent "sayings". I'm getting used to all the nurse talk and i'm SLOWLY learning. LOL. Right now i'm mainly just confused. lol.. I have way to many options and I wish someone would just tell me what I should do, but that can't happen. lol. Dumb question I know, but the parents are making me ask. Because I sign my life to them for 2 years, I still get paid don't i? They pay my tuition for the 2 years as long as I commit for two years, but my parents are worried that they wont pay me. I think this sounds absurd..how can they not pay you? But i promised them I would ask..:)

Being an RN with an Associates Degree or a Bachelors Degree.....
In case you hadn't read my other post, I believe I may have found a solution to my problems. I have found a program in Pittsburgh at Univeristy Pittsburgh Medical Center. It is a 2 year program, and it is completely paid for as long as you sign your life away to them for 2 years. LOL You just have to sign a 2 year agreement saying if they offer you a job, you must take it. They might not even offer you a job and your still tuition free. I'd have to merely pay for fees, uniforms, parking pass, etc... I'd have to take all my pre-req's at a community college before attending, and there is no wait list. This sounds absolutely fabulous. But the only problem i'm running into is that it's only a diploma program. I was kinda looking forward to at least having some sort of degree.. even an associates. But, if there isn't a problem having your diploma, it'll be fine with me. The only thing is that I will have went to BG for a year, MTC (marion technical school where I will be doing my pre'req's) for a year, and this nursing program for 2 years... and i'll only come out with a diploma....opinions...please! lol

Think I might have found something...but i need opinions!!
Alright...after ALOT of searching, I stumbled upon St. Margaret School of Nursing, which is based out of the Univeristy of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Perks include a Tution Reimbursment Plan. Once i've graduated, I sign a 2 year "if they need me contract". If they offer me a job, I have to take it for 2 years... if they dont offer me a job, they pay for my school, and I get to go whereever i want. So a total fee for school would be about 1500 dollars. Which sounds GREAT. Problems I'm thinking of....It's a diploma program. Is there a problem with having your diploma? I was hoping to graduate with some sort of degree....And also.. this school is in pittsburgh and after the two years, i'm hoping to work in the columbus ohio area. Will it be a problem moving? Is my rn license good where ever i go? THanks ya'll!

What to do...WHAT TO DO?!?! Please help!!!
Thanks all for the good advice!! Lucy..did you like ELP? Have you been there recently? I'm pretty sure i'm going to end up going to the KSU branch. I've considered getting my bs here at BG, but i've looked at the curriculum and it is extremely hard. I have a 3.7 so it's not all that bad. It's hard to explain, but i love the human body biology. Anatomy, physiology..I love it all. But here the pre-req's for nursing including almost 10 regular biology classes with tree stuff and pollution and etc..that stuff doesn't interest me..AT ALL..lol..So i'm pretty sure i'm going to end up going to ELP... Does anyone have any pictures of the town or campus? My boyfriend (of a year) lives close to there, and he's going to go take pictures of it on thursday to give me a better idea of the campus till i can visit on april22.

What to do...WHAT TO DO?!?! Please help!!!
Ok...i need MAJOR help...I am currently a freshman at Bowling Green state university in ohio. I have decided that I want to go get my associates in nursing and be a nurse. My problem is where exactly to go to school. I have two options. The town i'm from has a tech school where you can acheieve your associates, but there is an almost 2 year wait. From already going to a univeristy, I have most of my pre-req's done besides A&P and Microbio. I can finish these and have the possible chance of getting into the program..but only a CHANCE. I could possibly have to wait 3 years. But searching around, I found a branch of Kent State University that will give an associates, with no wait. But it's not in a very good town. It is in East Liverpool. I"ve drove thru this town before and the part I went thru looked like a run down place that I would never feel safe. I dont want to pass any judgement, because it could have just been the part I was in. On top of tuition though, I would have to get a loan for tuition, rent, expenses, and other miscelaneous items. My question is.. Do i wait three years, pay 4,000 and live with my parents? Or get my dregree in 2 years, be in debt 20,000 and live in a not so good town????

Being an RN with an Associates Degree or a Bachelors Degree.....
I was just wondering waht in your opinion was the best way to go. I am currently a freshman in college ready to switch schools if I decide to go with a 2 year... What are the perks? better pay? An RN can do everything a BSN can do right? The problem is that Im looking at the curriculum for schools around me, and I dont think I could handle a 4 year program...but im just wondering what the best way to go is...thanks!
