  1. Congrats! Look us up on Face book!
  2. The Difference is probably more than 10K because USF includes food, plus remember that is only for one year. If you are entering as a junior it would be more than 20K...think about how long you would have to work to make up the difference or that Miami = USF + a newer car.
  3. USF w/living expenses for instate is 15,300 http://usfweb2.usf.edu/finaid/10-11/1011_budget.htm Miami w/o living expenses 49,726 http://www.miami.edu/index.php/office_of_financial_assistance/ug/ug_coa/ug_coa_10_11/
  4. The FB group name is : PHCC LPN Fall 2010 WC this might work too: http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/group.php?gid=144122152270490
  5. If there are any fall LPN students reading this discussion, there is now a facebook goup for us. Search PHCC LPN and you should find it :)
  6. I will mention this again, I used borders coupons and bought most of my books. My fundamentals book was $92 because I used a 33% off Coupon and free shipping. I also used Amazon for anything not available on Borders.
  7. Sorry I am on vacation and have not been checking the board. I added a group on Facebook, search PHCC LPN Fall 2010 WC. It is open so you can add yourself, at some point later we can decide if we need to make the group private, and of course NC students are also welcome. I just thought if they want there own FB group the title made it easier.
  8. Shep626, Thank you for all of the info, a little insight into what to come really helps! For everyone else, Borders has a 40% off coupon this week! I purchased the majority of my books through them using coupons...amazing savings! Everyone in my house now has a Borders Rewards Card;)
  9. Shep626: I would like to ask if you have any tips for surviving the program, hardest part, easiest part? Any advice you have to offer? Thanks, Kelly
  10. I know that there are several other PHCC threads but I thought it might be nice to have our own. So here it goes: My name is Kelly and I will be attending the WC evening/weekend program. I will probably be the eldest of our class, although I hope not, I have been married to my husband for 17yrs and we have one daughter who is soon to be 14. My husband in in the Air Force and we have lived around the world for the past 16yrs, now it is finally my chance to work on my education. I am very excited to be an LPN student but I also realize the next year will be very tough. Anybody interested in our own Facebook page?
  11. I am thinking about putting my email address on it that way if I misplace it someone can contact me.
  12. I too have purchased most of my supplies, almost all of them with some sort of discount. For my books, I have comparison shopped and used many borders coupons!
  13. I wouldn't worry too much. It took about 5 days for me to get mine. You can also check wise to see if they changed your major.
  14. My prices were from bookstores online:eek:
  15. I got my packet in the mail today, started looking at the books for the first semester. Holy Cow almost $600!
  16. I have a pair of Timberland professional, that I wear for work as a Unit Secretary and my feet have never hurt but the heel slips a little. So I ordered Keen PTC and Alegria Debra, I have also considered these Danskos. Many of the nurses on my floor wear the Alegria and love them, the only local place I know to order them is the UCH pepin uniform store, on the first floor of UCH. You can try on the shoe in other colors there but they have to order it in white however you will get it quicker by ordering on the internet. As for the uniforms, there is not any place in town other than the book store that I know of that carries them in stock...at least the top. I ordered mine off the internet and had them 3 days later. I wish we were like USF, thet just have to wear white...any style. I have not ordered my stethescope yet, but I think mine will be a Littmann Cardiology III and I will engrave my email address on the head so that if I ever lose it someone can contact me. As for the medical part I had titers drawn when I started UCH as well as a current TB test, I need to check on my tetorifice. I will have a physical done in the next couple of weeks with my Dr. I am very grateful we have insurance because my DH is in the Air Force.
  17. Congrats, We will be in the program together!
  18. I have a feeling those pants would not pass the nursing program rules on not "scrub" pants, because of the cargo style pockets. You may want to look at the phcc bookstore online to see how basic theirs are.
  19. Oops, just edited my post. It is uniformhaven.com Yesterday I called the nursing office about the no Scrub pant question, and she said mainly no drawstring and the same material as the top. I looked at the bookstore but they don't offer petite, so I purchased the Landau 8327 from uniformhaven. I would have preferred cargo pockets but was worried that those maybe too "scrub" like.
  20. Just ordered my uniforms from uniformhaven.com they had the best prices I could find plus no shipping and no tax. Next will be my Littmann cardiology III thinking about Copper/Chocolate. Edited to add: I know several nurses that were these shoes in the clog style http://www.alegriashoeshop.com/product_p/deb-600.htm I am thinking about purchasing a pair to go with my timberland professional http://www.timberland.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3753981&clickid=prod_cs
  21. I turned in my acceptance letter yesterday, I can't wait for orientation!
  22. Absolutely makes sense, I was not taking into account that the program only starts in August. I can understand not wanting to the LPN route, for me it works :)
  23. Interesting, looking at the bridge program I guess it depends on where you were at in finishing RN coreqs; I had all but 2 finished so it will only take me an extra semester because they are prereqs for RN Bridge. I know it is a less than ideal way of obtaining your RN for many but in the end I will still reach my goal.
