    I agree with the previous posts and would suggest the reference of the American Academy of Pediatrics and their Neonatal Resuscitation Program. They removed the reference for suctioning in the last edition in 2006 for meconium unless not vigorous. As an instructor I also struggle with this practice change in the real world. Suctioning does cause irritation to the throat and can cause feeding issues. My suggestion is to keep up the discussion as the event occurs. swise
  2. The practice where I work is to switch methods to Oxytocin or cytotec if the Cervidil does not work. I think this is more cost based than anything else though. You also need to look at why are you trying to get the baby delivered and which method is the best for the Mom & baby. swise
  3. I also work in a facility that our name badges have our first name only for those that work in the ER or birthing center but not in the rest of the facility. They stated these were the 2 departments more at risk for issues. In my career we have had 2 in our unit in 32 years so I do not believe personally that it matters. swise
