Per Diem Psych?
Me too, just got an offer as an on-call nurse in a mental health rehab as a new grad. I am very thankful with all others' responses. Now, I have some ideas now regarding the orientations. I will be starting my 3-week orientation next week. What I really need to know is that how nurse moms take care of their young (mine is only 2-year-old) while doing the night shift? I do not have other help but my husband. Also, is it still possible to find a job in a hospital if I am a psych rehab nurse? I am more interested in acute setting though, either psych or med-surg. Thank you!

struggle with online degree
Both my BS and my Master degrees are not in nursing. I am sure that put me in a disadvantage position even though I am a RN in the US. I checked and checked local schools, I will have to either choose a private school with 1055.oo to 1100.oo per unit and end up with tons of debt or go to online public school. I even tried to take some biology classes to transfer to BSN degree, I was on the waiting list of # 152... The counselor said that I won't be getting in even for next semester. I will be very old when I get out of school.

struggle with online degree
I have Asso Degree in Nursing from other country, but could not get a job at all. Local schools won't accept me into their RN-to-BSN program because I already have a BS degree and Master degrees. Some people told me that some hospitals won't even consider you if you get your nursing degree online, is that true? I know Stanford medical center won't accept any new grad from online school at all, but how about other hospitals?

Asso degree in nursing go to MSN or DNP
I was actually asking some questions about online degree in BSN, but was told that since I have other BS and MA degree, I can do to MSN or DNP with only Asso degree in nursing. Is it true? Could you recommend a good school to me? Thank you!!! A stay home mom who cannot find a job in nursing after getting her RN...

should I get another degree in nursing?
Let me introduce a little bit of my background... I am a foreign trained nurse graduated in the early 90's with only AA degree in nursing. When I first came to the US, I spoke little English and did not know how to use Internet at all. People around me were in similar situations; So, without knowing how to search correct info of being a RN in the US, I gave up my dream as a nurse eventually. Instead, I had a BS in Child Development and MA in Health edu and Ed M in counseling psychology. I always knew there is a regret inside of my heart for not being a RN. In an occasion, I met a lady who also came from other country, she told me I should go for nursing if it is my dream. I did. After attending a refresher program followed by studying three month daily. Now, I am a new RN in the State of CA. Honestly, I cried w/ happy tears after getting the result. After all these years and will soon into my 40, I am what I am now. I know at this time, the job-searching will be still hard for me due to the economy condition.... but I am still trying my best. Can you share your thoughts with me regarding if I should go for another degree in nursing if my plan is to work in a hospital, and hopefully to be a nurse practitioner. Do I need to work for certain hours/years before I can be a nurse practitioner? A nurse practitioner and a clinical specialist, how to make the decision? Honestly, I do not enjoy online courses due to my personality, I'd rather have real classroom discussion, but i have a "terrible 2 " at home, will online degree be recognized as well? since English is not my first language, is it better to work in OR (I mean less communication with pt)? thank you very much for your suggestions.
