  1. tiffypooh22--So is there another orientation those who are accepted? I'm guessing it would just be a little more in depth..?
  2. Hey everyone! What do yall think about the new uniforms that they will have students buy? Polos and kackis? I don't think I have ever seen any nursing students in anything but scrubs. I just thought that was kind of different..
  3. Thank you to everyone who posted. This gives me a much better idea:)
  4. I'm glad a few of you mentioned the high cost of getting the MA. When I was looking at the MA on a couple program sites, tuition was about $14,000!!! (To me, that calls for a goodness gracious) Whereas the LPN program I have applied to is 12 months and approximately $4,100. MissSpectacular- I am in Tennessee.
  5. Thanks for the information!! If I do not get in to the nursing program, I wanted to have a back up plan ready. But hopefully I won't have to worry about a back up!
  6. Any information would be greatly appreciated! I am waiting to see if I am accepted into nursing school but I am also looking at a few programs for medical assisting. Can anyone give me any information about the differences? Pay rate? Etc.... Thanks!
  7. I was taking general core classes at a community college and I also looked up my teachers. I realize it's not the most reliable source either but I just wanted to get some kind of idea about them. Anyway- I looked up my math professor (my worst subject by the way) and read terrible reviews about her. I mean, A-W-F-U-L! I was so scared and worried that I would have an even harder time in the class. First day, syllabus, etc. also...."if i see you on your cell phones you will be marked absent" She was a very tough teacher and strict in her ways. Most everyone in my class hated her and always talked about her before she got to the classroom. I soon realized that the ones who complained about her, and asked her rediculous questions in class that were more or less rude, were the ones that didn't do homework and didn't make good grades. I may sound like a teacher pet, which I am NOT, but I got along with her great. Her teaching style was exactly what I needed and strict schedule with homework was the key to helping me succeed. So now that I'm done with that tangent, I just want to say....don't always believe what others say/write about professors. Use your own judgement. And one last thing...Tougher professors in my opinion are the best ones. Sorry for the semi-long post:) Just wanted to share my story.
  8. HELP! Before I ask my question, please understand I am not totally clueless about clothing.....but what would you consider business casual? (I have a nursing school interview tomorrow!) Black pants? Kacki pants? High heels? Blazer? Nice shirt? Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks so much in advance.
  9. No, I sure haven't. Hopefully that won't affect my chances of getting accepted!
  10. Have any of yall worked as CNA's before? Or no? Just trying to make conversation!
  11. Does anyone know or has anyone heard before where clinicals are held at? I'm just curious. Also..if anyone reading this has already gone through the program at Nashville, I'd love to hear about your experiences and I'm sure others would too. Thanks!!!
  12. Very excited about Thursday! How did yall do on the compass test?
  13. Thanks so much, everyone. I'm really excited about all this and hoping for the best. My interview is next Thursday. However, complete applications aren't due until early May....so the waiting game will be tough, but I am not going to stress about it. (I get no where when I stress) My brother told me one time that worrying is like a rocking chair, you can do it all day long but it still won't get you anywhere. The input from yall has been wonderful. I just wanted to get an idea about everything. Have a great day everyone!
  14. I am still playing the waiting game...I have not been accepted into nursing school, (yet, hopefully) :) but I was wondering what kinds of supplies did yall have to get? Just trying to get an idea. Thanks so much!
  15. Thanks so much! And yes, I am very excited! Nervous, but excited. The main thing I am nervous about is how many have applied to the program. It's a 12 month program and they only have 25 seats (approximately). That's a little nerve racking but hopefully everything will work out for the best. Thanks again for your reply!
  16. Hi everyone I just recieved a letter today with information about the orientation/interview day that is scheduled for NEXT Thursday. So I have a few questions. -How can I best prepare myself? -Attire? -What can I expect? -Do I need to bring anything with me? Thanks everyone in advance.....also, if there's any other information you want to throw in, go right ahead!!
  17. I am not sure if the Compass Test is any different across the state. I took the test at the Tech Center in Nashville for LPN and it was only Math & Reading. The minimum scores were 80% for Reading and 50% for Math. I am terrible at math and I made out with a 56% on the math portion. The website I went to has all kinds of different practice tests. Just look around and you can find Compass Practice tests for different subjects. I did the practice tests about 1 or 2x every other night for about 3 weeks until the actual test day. Practicing answering the questions was a big help for me. Hope this helps you some! www.testprepreview.com or google "practice compass test"
  18. In the process of finishing up the application. Any else in the area applying to TTC Nashville for nursing??
