Just click on the Financial Award letter section and you can accept all or a portion of what has been awarded to you. The most you will get of "Federal Aid" is $12,500 per year regardless of income level. Needless to say this doesn't come close to cover ALL the costs to attend each year. The rest will have to come from other means such as HOPE, out of pocket, private loans, etc. I don't think I will do the payment plan, at least not the first semester. Although I am thrilled to have been accepted by Mercer I wish I would have know about the max of $12,500 sooner so that I could have use that in determining which Nursing school offer to choose or been working all along to save up.

I first saw it on MyMercer page, but then this past week I also receive it in the mail. Maybe they are sending them out in the order in which they received the applications?? I filled mine out in February.

The lady in the Financial Aid office told me that you can get on a payment plan for the remainder of the balance. She said you can pay 4 times each semester which equals to about every other week. However, she did say there was a fee associated with a payment plan, but did not say how much and that I needed to check with the Bursur's office if interested in setting up a plan.

Just wanted to pass along some information..... I just received my Financial Aid award letter. The most in Federal Loans one can receive is $12,500 per year. Tuition for 2011-012 is $10,242 per semester. This does not include ANY other fees, (books, misc. fees, room/board, etc.) Even if you add the HOPE (approx. $2,000 per semester) and TEG ($350 per semester) it still does not add up to cover all the required costs. Some may qualify for the PELL (I do not) which will also help, but I just wanted to let everyone else know to be prepared to come out of pocket for the remainder of the $$$. Private student loans are always another option to help with the remaining uncovered costs, but most financial experts (including Clark Howard) will recommend staying away from them. Wish someone would have told me this 6 months ago when I was accepted, I would have been better prepared. I am still thrilled to be attending Mercer this Fall just scrambling to make it all work!! :eek:

I received my acceptance letter the beginning of January. I am finished with my pre-reqs this semester, but I think you can finish this summer too. I cannot remember my TEAS score (was like 1 year ago) but my overall GPA is 3.9 and sciences is 4.0. Good Luck!!! :->

Mercer told me that Cultural Apprecation can be a foreign language. Where are you taking your Nutrition class? I heard that GPC did not offer a Nutrition class. I know someone who got into GPC Nursing program with C's. I am not sure about Mercer. I would call the Mercer Nursing dept. They are super nice and very helpful.

I am taking the TEAS V September 17th. I will do my very best to remember as much as I can on it. And I will reply back to this thread. If I can meet before my exam date I will let you know. I have just started back to classes and I am taking 5 this semester along with studying for the state for my CNA license and also studying for 2 other entrance exams for the 2 other schools I am applying to. Thanks nrice28 for all your information!! That is really encouraging!! My 1st choice for RN school is NGCSU (I also live in Cumming) and the Lanier Tech location would be awesome!! I just hope I do not have to wait for 2 years!!! I did not know they keep a waiting list?? I have all A's in all the required pre-reqs but I know from experience that does not guarantee you being chosen. Good Luck to you!! Let us hopefuls know how it goes!!!

Baily, Apply to Georgia Perimeter College. They like students with low GPA's. I know they turn down students with high GPA's for students with low GPA's. A current nursing student told her story of 1st getting turned down with a 2.16 but then got in with a 2.69 flunked out and applied again and they took her back. So I think if you are concerned with your GPA you should apply there.

Dear wifeofwhiskeyg, I have just about completed my CNA class in Duluth. Let me know if you want the info. They are excellent!! I was totally impressed. They have day, evening, and night classes available. You will not be disappointed. I too wanted to get my foot in the door because I am apply to RN schools and one of the schools requirements is to be a CNA to apply. :-)

I thought the deadline for applying for Spring 2011 was May 15, 2010. How can people who are still testing be allowed to apply?? That does not seem correct.

hi esj26, no offense, and I agree with you. But bottom line, they do not care! Because nursing has been soooo promoted to be the job security of the future, they are overwhelmed with applicants and feel like you can run around crazy taking this test, no wait, this test, sorry no this test, etc. I am going to apply to 4-5 different schools, they all want a different entrance exam and different pre-reqs. It would drive anyone crazy!!

I think I read on their website that you cannot be enrolled at another school (taking pre-reqs) to be able to apply to their program. Does that seem correct?? If so, does this mean you have to quit school for a semester in order just to apply??

Hey Cloggersmom, GPC is currently on Spring Break this week. So I am assuming no one will be around to answer the emails or calls. I figured next week I will go see my Advisor and speak with her to find out what is going on and see if she can give the name of someone in the nursing dept. that will tell me where I went wrong and if I should give the Spring another shot. My biggest regreat is not applying at other schools. I thought for sure that I would get into GPC. I know of several others that got in and did not have my GPA or my NET. Or maybe did better on the NET but not as good as GPA. So who really knows what to think? Feel free to email me at [email protected] and we can chat more.

Hey Cloggersmom, Don't feel bad, looks like alot of us are in the same boat. I applied and did not get accepted either. I have a 3.8 GPA 4.0 sciences GPA and a 77 NET. But its hard to say what they wanted. Others who I know got in has lesser #'s than me. So what is their criteria?
