New rn graduates help!!!!!!!!!
Hey girl! Just thought I would let you know of one really great opportunity. I am a new grad I just got hired at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville to work in the operating room. Twice a year they hire a batch of about 12 new graduate nurses to train and place in various areas throughout the Mayo Clinic Hospital. I have friends in MICU, Post-Op Transplant, Surgical, Medical, etc..They are accepting applications again in May. It is a great place to work for and if you could find a way to sell yourself really well I'm sure you could get an interview. Just a thought!

Periop101 Program
Hi everyone! I am really nervous as I am starting my first RN job in the operating room at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the country! It is one every one of you have heard of hint hint! They do a Periop101 program and I don't really know what to expect. I feel bad like I am constantly bombarding them with questions so I figured I would post here and see if anyone has gone through it. What exactly can I expect the first few weeks? Do you think it helps more so than the traditional orientation to the OR? Is there any studying outside of work I have to do? I don't mind, I am just wondering. Does it help ease the stress of starting a new job at all? Another thing I might add I did a nursing internship in the OR so I am already competent in simple circulating procedures. Also my specialty will be neuro, the only specialty I never circulated for in my internship! What are the specific challenges working in neuro as opposed to general, gynecology or orthopedics for example?

Balancing Nursing School and a Boyfriend
Hi averie! I saw this post and immediately related to your situation. I just graduated from nursing school in December and went through similar struggles with balancing my boyfriend and school. My boyfriend really enjoys going out and spending time with his friends and what not as well. I found that this was actually great because there was less pressure on his end for me to be at home with him all the time. We got into a really good healthy routine where I would stay in the room and study and he would be out in the living room with his buddies or going out. He would come in every hour or so and give me a kiss, and always be supportive. But we both realized he couldn't truly understand what I was going through. Just know that if it is meant to be it will work out. In the end, it is awesome. He is so proud of me and can't believe I am going to be making double what he makes! So just stay strong and try to develop a healthy routine for the two of you!
