Directors--what do you wear?
I wear business casual as well, but not a lab coat. I agree with you. I wear a name tag. My residents can distinguish me and the nurse managers from floor nurses because the floor nurses wear scrubs.

Need some help and advice
Hi, I am looking for some info on hiring a CNA for private duty. My grandfather has terminal cancer and we have a person in mind that we would like to have come to his home and help out with bathing, meals, laundry, etc. Can we legally write up a contract for her to sign stating the hours, rate of pay, duties etc and have both the CNA, my grandfather, and my mother (his poa) sign? How do we handle taxes for her pay? I don't really have want to hire through an agency and have a stranger coming to his house. I have had some bad experiences agency sitters that families have hired at the facility that I work at. We want someone who we know and can trust. By the way, we live in Illinois. If anyone has any info or can refer me to the proper people to contact it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I'm ADON at a small rural ltc facility and I'm wanting to compare staffing with other places. How many residents do you have on average and how many nurses and cna's do you use to staff the floor?

Monthly Summaries
Does anyone have a good checklist to use for monthly summary reports? The nurses are complaining that the one we are using now is too long.

8 or 12 hour shifts for nursing staff?
Do you use 8 or 12 hour shifts for nurses and cnas? Do 12 hour shifts cut down on call ins and save on paying overtime? I want to know the pros and cons. Thanks!

Can anyone help me with IC in LTC
I'm a new ADON in a LTC center and have been given the job of IC nurse. The facility has been keeping a list of the residents, source, organism and treatment. Also has a log of residents and employees immunizations. Many of the policy and procedures are outdated (yellow, falling apart, some are handwritten and some from typewriters). I'm planning on forming an infection control committee and also doing inservices for staff Just wondering where to begin and if anyone has any good examples of spreadsheets or tips for organizing data and tracking information. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
