Hey guys! Anyone else starting the online program at South on Monday??

The hesi wasn't hard... I used my old anatomy book and brushed up on all the systems... There is a hesi review book that's really good to use for the math and vocabulary. The point system is based on your gpa... I think they have it listed on the broward nursing website. For example, I had a 3.7 so I had 13 points plus one for being a broward resident, which gave me a total of 14 points.

I LOVE north campus... I live south, and I drive everyday, but I don't regret it at all... For the most part, the professors are great... The only advice I have is get ready to work your butt off like you never have before!!! It's intense, but well worth it :)

Not gonna lie... We lost like 20 ppl... But if you are dedicated, you do the study questions online that she gives on blackboard... Do the nclex in the back of the text... You'll be ok!!!! It's a new way of thinking, and by doing the practice Q's, you'll prepare yourself for that. Also pick up the Nugent Fundamentals Success book on the book list... Lots of great Q's to help you. The prof gives you everything you need to know... You just have to critically think and apply it... Relax, and you'll be fine!!!!!! I do suggest that you start the reading... There's lots of it!!!! Also... Make sure you read before the lecture!!!!!!! If you don't, you're setting yourself up for failure.

The reference numbers do not make a difference! They put you where they want you :-)

Yes, you will need it for when you start going to the hospital... You don't start going right away, so you could wait a few weeks into the semester to buy it. Bookstore charges $45, I'd check online for a cheaper price :-)

Unfortunately... They started using the casitllo book at north for post-conference :-(

Don't bother wasting your $$ on the pharm book!!!!! He gives slides that has everything u need for the exam :-)

So sorry you're going through this! I'm in nursing school, and I see how nasty these nurses can be! My friend was asking a question on how to feed an aspiration precaution... The nurse got super nasty, and as she was walking out, said, "I'm sure you know how to feed your bf though, right?". Totally uncalled for! Ignore, be grateful you're not on their shift, and make that money!!!!

Before my very first clinical in nursing school, I dreamt that I had a ninety yr old lady that coded on me and died... Needless to say, I was hoping that my patient assignment that day was NOT a 90 yr old, lol

When I went in August, all I brought was a pen! They gave out a folder with all the documents that they wanted you to have.

I don't have a story yet, as I just started nursing school... But thank you for posting yours! It made me tear up. I hope to be able to touch lives, and be able to have others touch mine, as well!

You can bring someone... When I went to orientation in august, people brought family, significant others, etc...

Hey! I'm in the program now... I personally don't think they try to make you crack... They are just very realistic... If you can't do the basic skills, there's no way you can be a good nurse... I'm honestly really, really enjoying so far. There us a lot of studying, but I've managed excellent grades (86% on the first exam). If you are dedicated then you can do it!

I am at North right now, and I'm really glad I chose this campus... I just started this week, but so far, all of the instructors have been wonderful! They scare you a bit with things like how much studying you have to do, how you have to think critically, etc... But they are not doing it to be evil! They are just being very realistic and telling you what to expect. So far, it's great!
