  1. I wish I knew the easiest schools to get into in the Boston area because I would apply there as well! However alot of the schools in this region around Boston are VERY COMPETITIVE. A 2.95 GPA is not THAT bad. Many schools look only at your pre-req GPA, that is the GPA that matters. I would take some pre-reqs at a community college, then apply. A good GPA isn't the only thing schools look into.. Have you ever thought about becomming a nurse assistant (CNA/PCA)? That would give you hospital experience and would look really good on your resume.. As for schools Salem State has an excellent accelerated nursing program and is within close proximity to Boston! UMASS Boston also has an amazing program along with Simmons College..Good Luck!
  2. I volunteered in the Dominican Republic with my church. This sealed the deal for me. On our free time, a few volunteer members and I visited an orphanage that housed children suffering with HIV/AIDS. This is where I met a little girl Maria. Maria's mother was arrested with drug charges and was in a half way house, she then went to live with her dad who soon passed away from AIDS. La Casa Rosada, the orphanage I visited, takes children off of the street and keeps them until space in other orphanages permits them to be distributed to a loving and welcoming home. Maria's illness reached a point which required tedious care preventing her from leaving. I helped the nurses take care of her and held her hand and they distributed her meds. As I was departing from the orphanage, she kept grabbing my hand, not wanting me to leave. It hurt me to go because I knew Maria would suffer alone, and I couldn't bear to live with that. That experience changed my outlook on life! I am so happy I took that trip ( I orginally was not going to go) because now I am very close to being a nurse! It is funny how fate works and I truly believe that trip put me on the path to nursing!
  3. i would most definitely review the study packet before you take the test. i had to take the teas last september and i was so busy with my classes that i really had no time to study. i blew it off because from what i heard the teas was generally very easy. i ended up failing the reading portion of the test by 2 points. i was shocked because i took honors/ap reading/english in highschool and figured i was pass with flying colors! i had to pay another 60.00 and reschedule the test. i wish i just studied for the test the first time! :)
  4. i was just wondering if there are any pre-nursing students in the same boat as me. i have a low gpa of 2.7 however a 3.4 gpa in my pre-reqs. i have taken all pre-nursing courses and i am also a cna. im so scared of not getting into nursing school and am actually considering changing my major. what do you think i should do?
