CCA...... stands for Corrections Corporation of America and they do have a web site. Just type in Corrections Corporation of America and go to this site and they will tell you where and what openings they have under the employment site. I hope this helps. The insanity is still there, overworked,under paid:uhoh3: and nursing shortage. Hernando Co Jail has around 400 inmates with one to two nurses a shift. Corporate is very stiff on their regulations with little to no overtime accepted but still wants you to get your work done in the timely manner that they require. Very stressful. It depends what part of Florida you are moving back to. In Hernando Co the pay is between 15.00 to 16.00 and hour. Pasco Co and other co. around us pay a little more not sure. This is with CCA. I worked with them for 4 yr and recently quit and went to Home Health Care and love it. Less stress and better hours. :kiss hi there, my name is diane and i did go into home health and just love it. i take care of two little boys. both are mentally challenged and one is in a wheel chair for life. these two boys are the best ever. they have brought so much to my life and both families love the care i bring to these boys. i go to school with one of them and that is so much fun. i never thought i could go to work and have fun. this job change has brought so much thankfullness to my life. i dont mind going to work anymore. i did not want to go into staffing work. home care is so good and the pay is good. i went with maxim and the people there are human. they work with you and help you get the clients that you can work with. i have put a garden together for one of my boys. going to go to summer school with the other one and that will include swimming and the zoo and so forth. they both have history of seizures and need a nurse with them constantly. i am glad hear someone else has the problems with nurseing that i used to have. oh by the way, spring hill is 45min north of tampa. try this job change once and i know you will have a new outlook on nurseing. i love it and i actually get paid for having fun and still have a nurseing responsibity write back. love ya diane

I work for CCA in Hernando Co and makeing 15.27hr. I have been with them for 3yr. We are always understaffed and overworked. I love Corrections. Anytime someone askes me where I work, and I tell them, they go,OHOOOO. They think all nurses should work in a hospital. This job has been an eye opener. I used to work at Logan Dept of Corrections in Illinois for about 4yr which they had a Union and was so much better. The Union was also for the officers. Why doesnt Florida use Unions for their Nurses? The pay would be better and have the protection of the Union.

I need a job change so bad. I work at the jail now and have been in corrections now 10yr with no appreciation. I think I would like to do home care but not really familiar with the work. I need insurance with the job and have hear a lot of terrible stories about the work. I dont want staffing work. Just jumping into a new situation eveyday is not for me along with a different place of work daily. Does anyone have any ideas? I need to stay in the Spring Hill area or Brooksville.

I totally agree with all of the discussion about wages for nurses in Florida. I moved her 3yr ago because of my mother. Coming from Illinois to here was a major wage differance. I did know how I was going to do it. I had the large exspence of license transfer that is horrible. 200.00 later and 6mo of getting on the phone with "Jeb" I had my license. My license is good and active. After all of the red tape I felt like a criminal in the state of Florida. It is now 3yr later and makeing 15.27hr verses 22.00 hr in Illinois. I have been a LPN for 27yr and I am at new grad pay :angryfire I thought "Jeb" was suppose to be the big education govenor for Florida. I have put out so much money on CEUs and keeping up with further education required for Florida, and havent got an increase in salary. Oh, well. Thanks for letting me vent. So what are we all going to do about it. If any ideas, let me in.

Does anyone in the Spring Hill, Brooksville area know the closest place to get an IV Certifiation class? I had one years ago in Illinois but since moving to Florida, I need to take a class here. I was certified only thru the Hospital I was working. I need some help now and get registered in the class ASAP. Thanks:uhoh3:

You dont have the administration and all their problems while you are working. Not so many families visiting and doctors running in and out. You can actually sit and talk with the patients for a period of time and time goes fast. I like it. I hope you are doing well.
