  1. Hi, Any JHU grads out there that can share their experiences looking for jobs? I've been accepted to their program, but having sticker shock now, and am concerned about jobs after graduation. How much did the school help in this process?
  2. HTG, what specifically don't you like about the program? I'm debating whether to attend...
  3. Congrats to everyone who got in! Does anyone know when we will hear about the WHC scholarship?
  4. TammyG: Thanks for your insights. When you interviewed last fall, were you divided up into groups and given a "problem-solving scenario"? A friend of mine who interviewed in `08 said they were divided into small groups and given a scenario that they were all in a boat and had too many people and supplies. They had five minutes to come up with a solution, and the professors watched them interact! Just curious to know if they are still doing that?
  5. PurpleGum- I'm also signed up for the 24th; traveling from Florida
  6. Congrats to everyone who got invites. I'll be traveling from Fl for mine. Really scratching my head as to which date to pick...
  7. I, too, never received notification that my app. was complete. I won't be surprised if there is a delay in receiving interview notifications. The university was likely closed for an entire week during the blizzards, and they probably received a record number of apps, like most other schools. So, it might mean waiting a bit more . Hang in there!
  8. Thanks, won't make it to Accepted Students Day, but would love to hear about it afterwards. For those of you going, drop a line about the experience when you can. Best, Howser
  9. I was sitting in front of my computer frustrated and annoyed this evening that I still hadn't heard from JHU. I was about to post a rant on here, but then my phone rang with a 410 area code showing. I got waitlisted for ABSN, but was offered a spot in traditional, which I accepted. Guess I will have to survive on lima beans for the extra 7.5 mos. Congrats to everyone, and for anyone still waiting, I truly feel your pain...it sounds like they are tying to make as many calls and tie things up ASAP.
  10. Hi, I'm a pre-nursing student with a strong interest in psych nursing. I eventually want to become a PMHNP or psych CNS. So, for a long time the standard motto for new RN grads was to do med/surg first, then get a job in their speciality of choosing. But, I'm wandering if this recession has changed the rules a bit. In this economy some people have commented on here how once you're in a med/surg (or whatever field you're currently in) you can be somewhat pigeon-holed to that area b/c employers are only considering applicants with experience in that area. Do you follow me? In other words, if you're a med/surg nurse now, you might have some luck finding another med/surg job, but it will be harder to switch fields. So, my question is: what would you tell someone who is determined to eventually work in psych; still get a med/surg job first, or go right ahead into psych?
  11. DizzyMissLizzy: Congrats on your acceptance. May I ask how you found out? phone call? letter? I'm still waiting to hear from them...
  12. Hi FralliesMom, Would you mind sharing what your weekly class and clinical schedule is like in your first semester, and how many avg. hours you study at night and on the weekends? Thanks!
  13. Thanks for the info. and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one still waiting... Yeah, this wait has been rough, considering I thought I'd hear by around the first of Feb....
  14. Is there anyone else out there that is still waiting to hear for ABSN?
  15. Ok, I need to vent. I still haven't heard anything, although I'm not holding out for much hope now. Still, it would be nice to know officially either way ASAP. This waiting has been so frustrating! It feels like an election night 10 days later where they are still counting the ballots. I wish they would just go ahead and email everyone once they get back in the office with a yay or nay. I keep getting emails this week reminding me of their Spring Open House at the end of the month! So, it looks like someone has been working in the office this week. How many others are still waiting?
  16. Hi, a couple questions for you all: Has anyone who applied ONLY to the ABSN been accepted? Also, for those that received the financial aid email, did you already apply for financial aid, or not? It's starting to get tough waiting...and these unprecedented snowstorms are delaying things even more with the university closed so far this week. Hopefully, they will reopen tomorrow and the balls will start rolling again. Anyone else in the same boat?
