  1. In all honesty I would say do the school while you can now. Im in the LPN program right now and its only 1 year. The first few weeks were a little rough and I was away from my little boy 8 hrs a day but thats just like having a job. Then farther into the semester your school hours will cut way back and youll be home a lot...just with a lot of studyin. If you do it now then you really won't miss too much like games or school functions depending how long you keep waiting. There's always goin to be something that keeps you from going so you should do it while you can!
  2. It really just depends on your school that youre applying to. The one Im in is based off of 4 classes which are the A&P 1, A&P 2, English and Psych. For each A you get its 30 pts, B is 20 pts and C is 10 pts and if you get below that then it you just need to retake it. Then we had to take a TEAS test and that score is then added to your total grade pts. So basically, you need all A's and score in the 80's on the TEAS to get RN. I didn't have time to retake my classes so I had 2 B's and 2 A's which resulted in the LPN program but at least Im started. My advice is to retake the classes while you can. It's extremely competitive to get in and you don't want to waste a year sitting out because you didn't get accepted. Hope that helps!
  3. Thank you so much! After reading some of your post I thought I should change it to Decreased Cardiac Output but I was hoping Id hear back from you to make sure!
  4. Pt is a 40 year old man who lives alone. He was on a skiing trip where he fell and sustained a compound fx to his R tib/fib. Medics on the scene placed a clean dressing over wound and splinted the leg. Pt was given Morphine by medics. ER vitals were normal and Xrays were completed confirming the compound fx. Clean dressing was reapplied to wound and pt was admitted for OR later today. Pt has a hx of peptic ulcer, a smoker and drinks 3 lagers daily. He takes Omeprazole BID, Amoxicillin 500 mg TID, Metronidazole 400 mg TID, and Aluminium Hydroxide 500 mg QID.
  5. Im not really sure on what youre really wanting? Is it help on how to write the assessment?
  6. I also have a few questions. My scenerio is a lady who complains of chest pressure but no pain. Her husband states that she has been SOB X3 days, trouble sleeping and slept in the recliner the night before. She now has edema in her feet. She has a hx of HTN and CAD. She takes Toprol, Lasix, Benicar, and K+ but hasnt in the past week due to not refilling the script. Pt states she is 162 lbs but when weighed was 175. Vitals are 198/102, 120, 34; pulse oximetry reading on room air: 79%. There are crackles in the lower lobes of lungs and moist sound with nonproductive cough. She is placed on 4L NC and CXR shows pulmonary congestion and cardiomyopathy. So for for my nursing diagnosis I have: Impaired gas exchange r/t pulmonary congestion aeb SOB and crackles upon ausciltation. Ineffective health maintenance r/t pt not refilling medication for a week aeb pt now is having increase in blood pressure, SOB and edema. I wanted to do another one on Excess fluid volume but I'm not sure if I'm even in the right direction. I could use a little help please!
