Hi there, i know it has been months and really more than a year since i posted that last message. I actually moved to quito and have been working for a nurse at Hospital Metropolitano for almost a year now. They assisted me with all the "tramites" to get the work visa and have had a challenging but incredible experience so far. My contract is actually up in October and I am hoping to continue living/working here in ecuador but in a different nursing/medical environment. I would be grateful for any suggestions you might have :) Thanks!

I'd appreciate any advice!

I'm a nursing student graduating in May and moving to Quito, Ecuador after i take the boards in the end of June. I was hoping someone might have personal experience with the city and could give me some advice regarding job search, volunteer work, the healthcare system, visas and redtape I may need to figure out. Any or all of these topics are overwhelming me a little. My spanish language skills are passable, although I will need to brush up on medical terminology. I've completed 2 clinical rotations in cardiology, one in neurology, a pediatric medical surgical rotation, labor and delivery and psychiatric. Ideally I'd love to stick with cardiology, but really, I'm not that picky :) I just want to be begin my career and am excited to do it in Ecuador.

Hi there, I enjoyed reading your post so much and was glad to know that there are opportunities in Quito for extranjeros :) I am a nursing student moving to Quito in June after I take the boards. I would love to find nursing work there and am nervous about how to go about it, but reading your post was a little reassuring. Would you have any advice for me? My spanish is decent, and I think if I brush up on medical terminology that would be helpful. My clinical experience has been heavy in cardiology, but I have also done rotations on a neurology floor, pediatric medical surgical unit, labor and delivery, and a psychiatric rotation.
