Perioperative procedure
I am an ER nurse working on my BSN. Right now I am taking an evidence-based nursing class and my last paper has to be about a perioperative procedure that should be changed or has recently been changed. Can anyone think of a procedure that needs changing or one that was recently changed for the better? I would greatly appreciate any and all help. Thank you.

A&P 1: The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club
Wow, she doesn't give an inch it sounds like. You definitely did the right thing by bringing it up to her. It sounds to me like you are in the right but she's a teacher that thinks she is never wrong. And if she is you are better off just keeping that bit of info. to yourself:)! How far in to the class are you?

Hi everyone! My name is Sonja, 25. SAHM to Maya, 2 and Tyler, 7. I am taking my pre-reqs starting this summer and will hopefully be accepted into the May 2006 nursing program. I am doing the ADN program because my husband is Navy and we don't stay in one place long enough to do anything else!! Right now we are stationed at NAS Jacksonville. This summer I am taking Gen. Psych. and A&P I. Good luck to everyone!! Sonja

A&P 1: The Spring '05 Anatomy & Physiology Club
I believe that the teacher you have makees all the difference. If you can drop this class and retake it that would probably be best. We all know how important grades are when being accepted into a nursing program!! Another suggestion, go to www.ratemyprofessors.com and find the names of every teacher teaching this course and see what other students have to say about them.

Psb-nat
Thanks for the response. I am moving to Jacksonville in January and will start classes in August. Can you recommend any good teachers for the prereq. and general ed. courses we have to take in the nursing program. How do you like fccj?

Hi, I'm taking pre-reqs now to get into nursing school at florida community college in jacksonville. I did a search of the forums but didn't find too much info about the Psychological Services Bureau Revised Nursing Aptitude Exam. Has anyone taken this and if so how did you do and what types of questions were on it? Thanks, Sonja

Class of 2007 Hopefuls / Just Getting Started?
Hi, my name is Sonja and I am 25. I am married and have a 6 yr. old boy and a 1-1/2 yr. old girl. I am taking English 1101 and college algebra this semester. We currently reside in Pensacola, FL but will only be here for 6 months (hubby is navy). I am not sure what pre-reqs I am going to need because we have no idea yet where we are going to be stationed:o . It is nice to meet all of you and to have the support.

Anyone who has gone or is going to TCC?
What do you think about the professors and the program? What classes did you take before you were accepted? Did you use any study guides to take the nursing admission test? Thanks for the help, Sonja

nursing admission test
Thanks Susan. What admission requirements does your school have?
-
nursing admission test
I'll have to look at those books. The schools I am interested in are looking for more than just the admission test scores, so it probably would do me good to take some pre-reqs first. I think I'm just getting too excited about starting school :rotfl:

nursing admission test
Has anyone taken the nursing admission test before taking any of the pre-req's? If so, how did it go? Were you accepted into the nursing program? I have been out of h.s. for 7 yrs. now and would like to know what my chances would be on getting a good score on a nursing admissions test once I have been accepted to a school. Btw, is there a website where I can see sample qstns. or can take a practice test? Thanks, Sonja

Perinatal? Ob-Gyn?
Thank you Brenda for your response and the great advice. Now I know where to start after finishing school.

Perinatal? Ob-Gyn?
Is it the same thing or different? I am going to be starting a 2 yr. nursing program (hopefully) next year. How do I get into a specialty with an R.N. (A.D.)? Will I have to be a general R.N. for awhile or will I need to get my schooling?

CNA to RN
Thanks guys. Didn't think so but it was worth a shot:)

Phlebotomy
Thanks for the response Blackcat99. Good idea. I guess I will have to take a phlebotomy class.

Phlebotomy
This may sound silly but the only thing that scares me about being a nurse is blood draws, iv's, things like that. When I was in school to become an EMT-Intermediate, I quit because I was horrible at drawing blood. On the dummies I did great, but when it came to actual people I sucked. Does anyone have any tips or any words of encouragement for me. I'm really worried about having the same thing happen in nursing school.

CNA to RN
Does a CNA certificate count for anything when going to school to be an RN?

Non-accredited schools
thanks orrnlori. I am definitely not going to PJC now. My dh is in the Navy and with his profession we thankfully have a few choices of where we want to live. So hopefully I can find a nationally accredited school in another location

What is your specialty?
Hey everyone! I plan on starting nursing school in 05 (hubby is in navy and we are moving a lot right now). My dh is a physician who is going to specialize in Emergency Medicine. I thought I might like to do that but since joining this board I realize that there are so many different areas to specialize in. So my question is what is your specialty and what do you like or dislike about it?

Non-accredited schools
i was looking at pensacola junior college. the one in niceville is a little too far.

Non-accredited schools
Thanks everyone for the help. Wow, that kind of makes me angry that someone who is ignorant to the fact that if you go to a school that isn't accredited you may not be able to further your education after all that hard work! I'm glad I have everyone on here to help me out. I guess I better look at the accredited schools only. There just isn't that many really :-(
