RN to MD
To my seasoned Registered Nurses: Have any of you thought of going to med school or have decided to purse med school? How was the process of taking MCATs and getting into med school for you? I have been in nursing for over 10 years, and initially decided to pursue NP school. I wondered whether it would be 'enough' for me, and now contemplating med school... For those that have chosen to go back to school - has your RN experience helped at all? I welcome thoughts and stories! G

Practice Test Scores Needed
Hello everyone! I'm a 22 y/o Registered Nurse from the Philippines , about to take the NCLEX in a couple of days! I was just wondering, what kind of scores should you be scoring on practice tests for the NCLEX? When I took Kaplan they mentioned 65%, but my sister took Kaplan in another center and they told her 60%. I'm aware that this April 2010 they changed their standards and are going to make the test harder. Anyone know specifically what I should be aiming for in terms of a score for the practice tests? Taking the NCLEX for New York State this Monday, wish me good luck! :redpinkhe:redpinkhe:redpinkhe Grace.

What is the easiest state to apply for?
I wanted to originally work in NY state to begin with, but I'm afraid it'll be waiting over a year to get everything fixed. Thanks for your reply, silverdragon! GJ

CGFNS chaos
CGFNS is ridiculous. I signed up for their NY state credential service, and it's been almost 5 months, i'm still not finished with it! When i call and ask for help, they are extremely unhelpful, sometimes rude even. Im aware you are given 6 months to finish, but if they don't release information to you, how will you KNOW that it's your fault and not theirs? i was asking them to tell me the status of whether my nursing licensing agency even got my papers yet, because i have not heard from them in 5 months, and they replied "sorry but that's inside CGFNS information, we cannot release it. you'll just have to wait." ?!?!? i paid over $300 for this, and im afraid i'm going to reach deadline and have to start over... hang in there, maybe you can talk to someone directly from their office in philadelphia. i just recently posted a forum 5 minutes ago under "what state is the easiest to apply for?" and i also vented out about CGFNS! rawrrr!

What is the easiest state to apply for?
Hello everyone! I'm just new to this site, I have a few questions and i'm hoping someone can help me answer them! I am a registered nurse in the Philippines, I just passed my boards last year. I'm a dual citizen so i'm living here in Canada with my family. I applied for New York state through CGFNS, because I'm trying to work in the States. I started my application mid-September, and until now it still hasn't been completed. CGFNS is taking forever! (anyone else have problems with CGFNS? their service in my opinion is horrible! they don't release information about the status of your application because you aren't to "interfere". how unfair when you're paying $300+ for their services .. ) During my Kaplan class, I overheard some people saying it's easier to apply to other states such as California, Michigan, etc because the process is so much faster. They also said applying to NY state was a mistake because they still do criminal screening, the license takes 6 months to obtain, etc.. it's like my worst nightmare! :' Anyone know if this is true? I was trying to apply for a state that didn't require CGFNS because I didn't want to waste any time taking the test. I grew up in Canada and just went to university in the philippines- I didn't see a point in having to take my IELTS and all that when my English is fine. What states don't require CGFNS and is a fast process? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks fellow nurses! :redbeathe Nurse GJ.
