  1. I used the bix index cards. You want the "odd ball" side effects of the meds...they all have N/V/D...pay attention to leg pains, jaw pain, disturbed color vision, etc. Keep the notecards you make up on the meds in a small recipe box in alphabetical order or by drug classification. That way you have a library to reference in the future. The Davis Drug Book has a nice CD in the back of it. Good luck.
  2. You are spot on with the dx that you have. Don't doubt yourself. Nurses are assertive and confident. Good job.
  3. If you just remember the equation "desiered over have x quantity" you will always be able to figure out your dosage. When you are converting, the decimal gets moved 3 places to the left or right depending if you are making it bigger or smaller. I have always been terrible at math, but I graduated LPN school in December as valedictorian...YOU can do this too. Stay clam, take a deep breath and smile. This is a temporary adjustment for you. Soon it will be second nature.
  4. I just graduated LPN school in December 2009....I feel your pain. There is a lot of studying coming out of the gate in school and it feels like everything is thrown at you at once. I PROMISE you, it gets easier. During A&P I made up so many note cards and studied for hours every night. Once you get thru A&P, and start into clinical, the bookwork becomes less. I'd like to give you a headsup about careplans but if you were given a good guide book for that, you will make it. Head to toe assessments become like a reflex for you after a bit. Hang in there. It was the longest year of my life but I made it and so will you.:)

Addison's disease is most commonly caused by autoimmune dysfunction or tuberculosis. :)
