  1. my sister got approved with hawaii in just 1 month. she has no local license, just sent papers needed from school to cgfns. when cgfns received the papers, they just processed it in 1 week and sent the results to hawaii, and hawaii sent the approved letter after 1 month..
  2. you dont need to take toefl . unless your papers are not in english
  3. nclex-pn and nclex-rn are not the same concept. also, not the same exam. . if you can go straight to nclex-rn, why nclex-pn? double exam, double study, double application, long wait. just a thought..
  4. you need to look outside houston in order to get your first RN job.. i just think you have to or you'll be jobless for a long time. if your goal is really to work in houston, then my advise to you since nobody is hiring you, go outside houston first, and if you get hired, get at least 1 year experience (or even 6 months), then apply again in houston when you have the experience..
  5. i always buy mine in houston premium outlet. whenever i got to the outlet, i buy there.. there's one medical scrubs store there, across crocs.. the name is uniform destination
  6. me too, i didnt take mine! im also a graduate from PI
  7. spiderman.. where in texas are you? im also pinoy, graduated in the philippines. im from houston, but when i was a new grad 2 years ago, couldnt find any job in houston or even san antonio..nobody was hiring me, until i looked outside houston.. my current hospital, they hire new grad!! but it's 2 hrs away in houston
  8. try too look hospitals outside the big cities, maybe you'll find one.. probably nacogdoches, lufkin, uvalde, brownvill, mc allen, harlingen. i know they are hiring new graduates..
  9. if you're a new graduate or without experience, you will have a hard time looking for RN job in the major big cities (houston, san antonio, austin, dallas).. but if you look at the rural areas, you'll have a big chance landing one. i was in your shoes 1 1/2 year ago.. i looked in houston, san antonio, dallas and austin, but no one was hiring me, until i looked outside of those cities..maybe 1 hour away or more
  10. to all my fellow kababayan in texas, how's your texas bon papers doing? i was in the same situation before 2009, im from texas too, and didnt take NLE.
  11. we're on the same boat. im a us citizen, graduated nursing in the philippines, but didnt take the local board. silverdragon is right, getting hired is not the problem, it's how to get your license. and yes you can get hired without taking local board exam, all you need to do is be qualified to take the nclex exam to get a license. that was my situation before 3 years ago but all went fine. ive been eligible to take the nclex, got my license, and got hired..and im from texas, too..
  12. yes of course, compared to dubai, saudi, canada or even there in UK, the salary pay in the US is much greater.. starting regular nurse base pay in california (bay area) without experience new graduate is $40.. and if you work night shift, it's 12% difference, plus overtime? overtime is time and a half, and full time is just 3 times a week and 4 days off.. and if you're an experienced nurse with 5 years, you can be earning $60 per hour without differential
  13. of course, money.. dont you like $40 per hour ?
  14. no, you dont have to. i didnt complete mine.. only prc requires those, not the bon in the states...
  15. hehe.. just like the other schools you've researched or been mentioned before here -- pchs, lanting, metropolitan etc. -- the past students from these schools had found no problem applying for nclex-ca even without philippine license
  16. why do you need a philippine license when you already have a US license? if you have a california RN license, i think you can endorse to Illinois? im like you, graduated in the philippines, applied and i have a california rn license without a philippine license, but i successfully endoresed my CA license to other state without problem..
  17. we are too.. i work as a nurse in texas., and we are short of nurses too.. but the thing is, because of retrgression, sponsorship is on hold for now..
  18. if you're looking for a job in texas with no experience, you'll have a hard time finding one if your target cities are the big cities (houston, san antonio, austin, dallas). they dont accept new grad most of the time.. but if you'll apply to those small cities, rural areas far to the big cities in texas, you'll have a big chance..
  19. good quality schools like feu, ceu, uerm, ust -- they dont accept 2nd courser.. you have to start from scratch.. but some average schools like lanting, perpetual, pchs, st jude, unciano , de ocampo, metropolitan etc.. -- they accept 2nd course and will credit your other subjects.
  20. im proud to be pchs alumni and in my time, there were lots of students studying there (5000+). pchs has 3 floors and mostly all rooms from 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors were occupied. but sad to say, after i graduated (2008) until now, they lost lots of students and most of the rooms in 2nd and 3rd floors are vacant..they've been using only the 1st floor with 5 rooms
  21. maybe we were classmates and know each other hehe... i took mine last year - november 2009. im a male, and you? but have you applied yet? if not, start applying now, it will take months hehe..
  22. reinaya.. have you figured this out already? i think tx bon wont schedule your fingerprint. you're the one who will schedule yourself through ld1solutions website.. and for verifcation form, the direction is in the verification form itself.
  23. when you endorse your license to texas, you'll have two licenses now.. california and texas. you can still maintain your california license.. just dont forget to renew it whenever it expires
  24. @bingowingo: november 2008 batch.. i may know you aswell hehe.. @subzero: are you looking for the list of subjects each semester/year? i think i have some old copies.. they used to have a website, just dont know what happened..
  25. i maybe know you.. im a us immigrant who happened to study in pchs.
