  1. I am trying to decide which NCLEX review course is the best to take. Any feedback is appreciated. If you have taken either Kaplan or Klimek review course what are your opinions? Or if you have heard anything about either. Klimek is in late June, $285 (3 eight hour classes) Kaplan $399 is early June (7 three hour classes) Im probably not going to be able to take NCLEX till Sept. So I was just curious what everyone would recommend. Thanks!!
  2. I dont really know what I like yet. I am in high acuity now, so we will see how the whole "fast paced" environment works out! Im excited tho, just feel that Im not prepared as I should being a senior student. So I guess I will just go with the flow and see what I like and what everything has to offer.
  3. yes I get quite annoyed when some RN's dont even acknowledge that you are there. I learn so much better and have such a better clinical experience when My RN is there to help me and guide me thru things and explain WHY. If a certain RN doesnt want to be there to answer questions or be patient with students, then I really dont think they should say yes or offer to help a student because it doesnt help the student learn at all. As students we look to RN's for help and offer information that they have obtained from being in the field. I just know from my experiences that I have learned so much more, and felt so much more comfortable when the RN is welcoming and shows that she is interested and most importantly NICE!
  4. So, here I am in my final year of nursing and I still am unsure of what I want to be doing. I enjoyed postpartum, but dont really think its where I'm meant to be. Ive thought all along I wanted to do PEDS but my clinical rotation was a horrible experience. So i was just curious how anyone has picked one place that they wanted to work. and what units they have liked/disliked?
  5. The only thing is we dont get to know anything out our patient until that morning of clinical. we are not allowed to go the night before or anything like that. I was just curious for the people who have already worked in critical care, what types of problems they have encountered, or how they handeled it. CVA is the stroke I was talking about. Thanks tho.
  6. Hello, I am on NEURO, ICU, and ER this quarter. I was wondering if anyone had any input on what they see diagnosed the most between these floors, and I understand that there is a variety of Dx that a part of each of the listed units. During this rotation I have to chose a patient that I am caring for and write out a C-map. This includes what to assess/observe, meds that contribute to the condition and any labs/tests. The first day, the patient was on NEURO r/t a stroke. I didnt have much time to firgure anything out. But I am trying now to prepare ahead of time and see what types of meds, labs, test contribute to stroke, so that I have a basis to go from the next time I am in clinical. I know that a lot of this is just learned material, but I am having a hard time putting two and two together. So, what Im asking is if anyone has some input in how conditions deteriorate or what things to keep in mind when looking at critical conditions... I just want to see some brainstorming on how others think that are actually out in the field. Thanks! Any helpful stories would be of interest!
  7. Hello, I am in my final year of nursing. My clinical roation this quarter is in the ICU, Neuro, and ER. I was just curious as to what types of conditions I might find. So far I have seen strokes, and Dx r/t altered mental status. Im just trying to think of some Nsg Dx that I might encounter so I can feel more prepared and read about these conditions. Any input would be great! Thanks!:)
