Good Press Ganey for ER. Possible??
I work in a 55 bed ED in Ohio that has over 90,000 pts come through each year and our Press Ganey is in the 90's (can't remember the exact number but management is always talking about it). Other hospitals have come to our facility benchmark and see what we are doing. So it is possible to have godd scores. Our facility has TV's in every room but the fast track/minor area which seems to help a lot over our old facility that did not. We have glass doors that close to keep the area quieter and phones in the rooms. We allow one visitor in the room until the Doc has been in and then it is 2. I update my patients on what they are waiting on (this helps bunches!). There are many things we have in place but people in the ED will always get ****** about something, the question is how it is all handled. Don't want to write a book, just wanted to say good scores are possible...we have done it and are proud of it!

Diploma RN-what is the BEST online BSN program??
jessi.rn The $5850 is the total for all the nursing classes required. So if you only need the nursing classes then this is the total cost for the entire progran, plus books. If you need any other classes that either didn't transfer or you have not taken yet then the cost will be higher. It is still a great price though at only $117/credit hour. Go to their website that I listed in the original reply to this post and check it out. I think you'll be hard pressed to find a more convenient, low cost BSN. The only thing I don't like is the classes are on quaters not semesters. This may pose a problem with transfer credits down the road if going to the MSN at another university. Hope this helps!

It Frustrates Me
In the ED I work in we are required to have someone go into the room with us to do any type of foley, pelvic exam, etc. So my employer simply has the female nurses do all the procedures that involve this type of invasiveness. I have been on teams that are 4 men and one woman RN and the female does all the female foleys, pelvic exams and such. I personally don't mind but I think it is ridiculous. I mean it is alright for the females to do foleys on both male and female patients but I, as a man, am only allowed to do this procedure on men. Once again, it is fine with me as I do not look forward to putting foleys in 300 lb old women but the double standard is irritating. Oh yeah, the men are not even allowed to go in with the MD to be the witness for the pelvic exam...it has to be a female. I don't understand that at all. We work as a team though so many times the men do the foleys for the male pts since the women do the females. It protects us all so whatever. Don't take it so personally...it is what it is.

Diploma RN-what is the BEST online BSN program??
Check out the Ohio University RN-to-BSN program on their website (Ohiouonlinebsn.info). I am starting the program in February. There are many nurses where I work going to school and this is one of the main programs. It is a great school that has been around a long time, is entirely online with NO CLINICAL time, and the price can't be beat...$5850! Of course the price does not include books and such but still, I have not seen a program come close to this price from a reputable University, and I've checked out a lot of programs. Everyone in the program tells me it's great. Hope this helps.
