Any Concorde Career College LVN students?
Im currently in Concorde, 2nd term, and all I can say is teachers good, admin no so good. The program is really fast paced but Ive had a blast so far. Just keep you head in the game and stay out of the drama that occurs and you should be fine. One last thing dont fall behind on reading if you do ur screwed.

shoes for clinical
I have been wearing the Adidas Shelltoes the newer version, with Doc Schols inserts and I love em. Eight hour clinicals with little to no sitting and my feet and back feel great found them at Footlocker for 35.00. The toe portion has a rubber cover for easy clean up

New GUY Nurse
Do it... I worked in the art gallery and framing business for over 16 years pay was always decent and benefits were good but overall the job had become monotonous and drab. Why work and not enjoy, do something that makes you happy I start school on Monday:yeah: Good luck to ya

Oh no. The only reason that I'm going to LVN school on the first place is because I was laid off over a year ago, cant find a job in my field, not to mention I'm tired of the retail art world, so I applied for the WIA program and the only way to get trained for nursing was either have my pre reqs done and get into nursing program or head straight to LVN school. Unfortunately my first trip through college I was too busy getting wasted and chasing tail, that was back in 95, so I figured this would be a better route. But yes I do plan on getting my prereqs done and then bridging. Thats scary that the school sales peeps are lying to people just to get money through their door

Yes, isn't that how most bridge programs work. I haven't heard much about people getting their LVN cert and then quiting their jobs in order to bridge, maybe I'm wrong? I know it will be tough but its all about time management, which seems to be a huge part of being a nurse anyways

Heres another question for all... Do you use or are you planning to use a Ipod touch or Iphone for some of the apps that are available for nursing while in school? Will the Ipad be useful?

Its a overpriced LVN program costing 26000, but Ive been unemployed so WIA is paying 15000, pell is giving 7000. I plan on going for the bridge programs after getting a little experience under the belt or scrub into order to become a RN. Wanted to do the community college way but with prereqs and waiting list for the actual nursing program it was just going to take to long before i could get back in the workforce.

I start Concorde in Arlington,Tx in less than three weeks. What should I be doing to better prep myself? I'm reading some nursing books and using some nursing student computer programs (A&P coloring and labeling program) Ive also downloaded a medical terminology audio file for my Ipod when at the gym, nothing make you pump the iron like hearing words like menorrhagia and phenylketonuria or what a cystoscope does. Is there anything else I should be doing? If ya don't mind I have a couple of other questions Any feedback about Concorde? What shoes? Dansakos, Murrells, Crocs, or will my Adidas shelltoes do? As a male should I expect bias against me? Like when I went to the local nursing supply store and was treated like a leper in the middle ages. The lady said we have one pair of shoes and "your" scrubs are in the corner. Should I read everything Florance Nightingale wrote? Someone told me trash all your books and just read the NC-LEX prep books. Yes/No? I like old people, they have the best stories, whats wrong with working a LTC? Finally I just want to say I've been watching this website for awhile now and yall are awesome and I wont ever ask a classroom question in order to finish a assignment. Thanks

WIA and Concorde in arlington,tx
Im set to attend orientation tomorrow and Ive already completed most of whats on their checklist. Some of the workforce offices are sooooo backed up the one closest to me isnt allowing people in until May. Will the program pay for all of the schooling? Some post have said they received only 1500 if thats the case its not really worth the wait for me. Ive spent the last month reading biology texts, nursing ethics books, as well as prepping for the NET exam. Im so ready to go to school, i think, i hope.

WIA and Concorde in arlington,tx
OK here I go... I've been unemployed for over a year, I use to run a custom frameshop/ art gallery. I am currently looking to enroll in Concorde in Arlington,TX for the LVN program. Yes I know its not the best option but with no pre-reqs, a three year old and another due in the end of June and location I really cant find much better at this time. What Im wondering is how long does it take to get through the WIA program here in Texas? I just learned about the program and Concorde is listed so I would love to use the program for finacial help. I applied for finacial aid but due to the fact that I and the wife made so much in 2008 i only got 1300 in pell for first semester which starts Feb 8. Second semster should be better cause I was unemployed for all of last year. Still this school is running around 25000. Thats ALOT but like i said Ive got alot already going on and can not take the time to go through commuity college. So has anyone used WIA? how long to get through program? How much do they pay for? Should I give up my desire to become a nurse and just head back to the frameshops? Thanks
