  1. you should get in too. if you don't, retake eng and psych next fall while you're waiting to apply again, and get A's.
  2. Most of the people in the night program work full time during the day. A few work part time. It's completely doable. You just have to really put lots of hours into studying. I see people get wrapped up into the whole ambiance of studying in groups, and making pretty flashcards and all that BS and they don't actually get much studying done. Then they bomb and wonder why.
  3. The Micro grade doesn't matter, only AP1, AP2, Eng and Psych. They just like to see that you've either taken Micro or you're enrolled in it during that interim semester while you're waiting for an answer. If anyone needs anymore info E-mail me at StevenStarke11[@]Gmail.com I'm graduating the night program in May and I'm pretty familiar with the details of the program.
  4. I doubt it. Nursing educators are almost always NP's with numerous certifications, and have extensive experience working in nursing environments, both at the bedside and in leadership positions. Regardless of your teaching experiences, you wouldn't really be qualified to teach RN students if you only worked as an RN for a couple of years. You need a good amount of hands on experience in different patient care settings to offer an accurate view of what the Nursing field is about to students.
  5. enroll in a BSN program. Why People are 1 year out with no job and NOT enrolled in an BSN program already is beyond me. If you were ALREADY in one and put that on your resume', I'm almost positive it would help!!
  6. Yea, you're basically in. Good luck to you!!
  7. Something is wrong with what you're saying. Hospitals dont use the same background check service the FBI uses. And I would never accept the answer of "I must have been doing something wrong". That's like saying I was at the bank in my grey mustang and another man in a grey mustang robbed it and escaped so when I get falsely accused It will be on my record forever even if I'm never prosecuted? You can't have an arrest expunged. Either you're leaving something out or you're misinformed about what's on your record or BOTH. If you weren't convicted of anything there is nothing to have expunged.
  8. Someone told me that you can take the LPN test if you have completed 1/2 of a 2 year RN program. Does anyone know if this is true? I'm only asking because I'd like to know now and potentially do it this summer so I can attain a part time job as an LPN.
  9. Really? I didn't know that. Are you sure that applies to CNA's as well? Because Hospitals CAN hire someone as a CNA even if they arent certified. I know someone that got a job less then 2 years ago after finishing her nursing fundamentals class. And I spoke to a few hospitals recently that said they will accept the completion of that class to be hired?
  10. I have considered that but I cannot find an open CNA class that finishes before 8/30 and I cannot get the EKG, phlebotomy, EMT training all done AND get a new job by 8/30.
  11. I may be going out on a limb but I don't know what else to do. I applied for Nursing back in dec, 09. I applied for the day program because my job at the time would work for that. I then was laid off and finally found a pretty decent job back in the end of April. It's mon-fri 9-5:30. Then come June, I get accepted to the day program. I'm on a waiting list for the night program but it's not looking good. I REALLY don't want to pass this up as I really invested alot into getting this far. I'm engaged with a 2 year old daughter and a mortgage as well so I cannot be unemployed. I have no healthcare experience but I work very well people and I believe I will be a great fit for an interactive position in the health field. I'm trying to find a job as a transporter or even nurses aide that will work with my school schedule. I already received my schedule and it consists of mon/tues/weds and no later then 3pm. I only take home about $550 a week now so there has got to be a position I can work mon/tues/weds eve and anytime on thurs-sun that I can take that much home. I'm also looking for a bartending/waiting position as well because I have about 4 years experience in that field and I believe that will also probably work with my schedule. I don't know what else to do. I'm desperate to find something by 8/30 so I can go to the program. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please let me know. I've already registered and applied for numerous jobs at St. Catherines, St. Charles, Mather, and Good Samaritan hospitals. I live in Patchogue and currently work in hauppague. My mother is a nurse at Southside hospital and I'm currently trying for them as well. I know that no one here knows me personally and probably wouldn't want to put themselves out there for a stranger, but this 5 min post is worth the small chance someone sees my plight and can help me out. I'm willing to work Full time, part time, per diem, on call, etc... I'll also work days, nights, weekends, holidays, etc... I really don't care, I just want to get in. Then after my first semester, I'd like to move into a CNA position and after my 2nd semester, I'd like to take the LPN test and hopefully move into an LPN position. Thank you in advance.
  12. Dont apologize, I appreciate the help, thats why I said thank you!!! Hopefully I can figure this out!!
  13. Jenny, I am aware of that and my plan is to come to work a little bit early any days I have to leave early. I believe they will be a little bit flexible with me. Thank you though.
  14. i'm currently accepted in the ammerman day program starting in fall of 2010. i also just started a job that i really do not want to leave and it's mon-fri 9-5:30. i'm trying to negotiate switching to the night program but being that it is full, i don't plan on being successful. now if i had someone that is already accepted to the night program and would switch to day, i might be able to get the board director to let us switch with each other. if anyone is in the ammerman or brentwood night program and you would prefer the ammerman day program, please e-mail me at mercuryevo [at] yahoo.com. this is pretty much first come first serve and it is not a guarantee. i'm just thinking that with 2 people accepted simply looking to swap spots, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. neither of us will lose our current spots if it doesn't work out. but i imagine we'd both have to go to the college and sign paperwork switching over. i hope to hear from someone!
  15. Got my letter of acceptance today but I may not be able to even go
  16. Got my letter of acceptance today but I dont even know if its worth going because I may end up with some criminal charges by the time I finish the program and then not be able to get a job. FML
  17. well like I just posted, getting the license seems to not be so hard, its getting a job that seems to be the difficult part.
  18. I'm interested to know when suffolk community college starts replying back regarding acceptance into the fall 2 year program? I know it's only april but if anyone has received a letter, please let me know. I'm getting antsy about finding out or not. I applied for farmingdale as well but I got a letter back in january saying I didnt get in. Thanks in advance
  19. Im expecting to have at least 1 felony on my history before I even get to take the NCLEX exam and I called the NYS BON and they said as long as the case is over and I'm not on probation or anything, that I will definitely get my license. Getting a job on the other hand, will prove to be much harder...
  20. i got one, thanks though!!
  21. if you still have the books, can you shoot me a text or call? 631 903 1729
  22. So I applied to suffolk community college, farmingdale, and I'm probably going to apply to westchester (my fiance's job is moving and in case she decides to stay with them we have to move) Heres my issue: I'm 25 years old and i went to college right out of highschool but I definitely wasnt ready. I screwed around and got alot of C's, some D's, and barely any B's. I graduated with a criminal justice degree in spring of 2006. Fast forward to now, I never got a job in the CJ field so I went back to school taking pre reqs for nursing. I took Chem and English and got a B and A respectively. Then took AP1, AP2 and Psych and got B+, B+, and an A. I'm taking school much more serious now and I'm worried that the classes from years ago are going to hold me down. I have a 3.61 GPA in my pre reqs but overall GPA is HORRIBLE, like a 2.4 (I failed a music class when i was 21) So Am I screwed when they look at my application? i wish i could erase my entire college history before Jan of 2008. Anyone know if those schools I mentioned are going to look at TOTAL GPA or just Pre Req GPA? I've asked this of friends, teachers, admissions, etc... and I get conflicting answers everytime. Hopefully someone here knows for sure... ?
  23. Im starting micro on tuesday with Sangeet Honey. I wouldnt say I'm psyched to start it, but I'm more itching to hear if I get into the suffolk program or not.
