  1. Thank you everyone for the Info. It gives me a good idea of what I needed to know! =)
  2. Bahahaha LOL that just makes me laugh!!! You should tell your classmates that as a nurse they can expect to have to deal with any and every type of bodily fluid imaginable, and yes at times be the one who has to clean it up! If a patient gets sick, you are not going to make them sit there in the mess until a CNA can get to them to clean it up. Sure CNA's do alot, but that doesn't mean nurses don't clean people up.
  3. I wouldn't let this one incident make your decision about nursing if that is what you have a heart for. Your niece really could have picked up MRSA from anywhere in the community....especially if she ever goes to a nursery like for instance at a church. Honestly, there are probably tons of people in the community who have MRSA and who don't know it. Also, MRSA can be treated and healed. At our facility once someone has a negative MRSA culture 3x's in a row (the tests have to be a few days apart) then they are considered cleared of the MRSA and are taken off of contact precautions. You sound like you do a good job of handwashing, etc. so I would not beat yourself up over it. Your niece is getting treated and that is what is important.
  4. Just curious, what are the pay ranges for RN,BSN's in areas of CA? Anyone familiar with South Orange County pay ranges?
  5. If you are trying to get a job as a nurse, you definitely need to highlight your school clinical practicum. That will let them know what kind of experience you already have. You can include your customer service and volunteer work in that resume as well...just mainly focus on your clinical experience.
  6. bahhaha LoL that is sooo true!! Usually after the 2nd time you explain to them that how high up the ctx. goes does not mean thats how strong it is they start to get it. Drives me crazy too!
