yes I agree with suzanne and juan de la cruz. I'l be finishing my MAN degree here in the Philippines. I perfectly know it can't be used in the US. My MAN degree will be utilized wen I come back from the states to be a teacher or an administrator in a hospital in the Philippines I do plan to complete my MSN in the states depending on the tuition fees.

i didn't do suture training. its not needed. the midwife that will sign your forms needs to be trained in suturing.. you will provide a copy of their certificate of training... it is IV medication not IV insertion

The BOM even PREFERS you to use the actual delivery cases for your suturing and IV. Double time before its too late

@Immoe: Please go to the PRC so you can inquire if there is a new form. You have to do it ASAP. Nurses who applied at PRC a week before the deadline were not able to take the exam. You have to apply as soon as possible.. Last April. We were interviewed 1on1 by the BOM. I was interviewed by BOM chairman Alejandro San Pedro himself. Just be confident and defend the authenticity of your cases.. I always say, that its the application process thats harder than the actual midwifery exam. LOL..

You will defend the authenticity. Tell them that you've been with the mother from 1st to 4th stage of labor. Tell them that the signatories have valid licenses.. etc. did they ask a separate (different from midwifery grads) form for nurses?

Thats a new policy for the November exam. Please go to PRC and inquire on this new format. You should have asked them about it

Yes, we who took the April Midwifery exam were interviewed by the BOM. you have to defend the authenticity of the cases. You should brainstorm on the perfect answers to say. They may ask the certificate of trainings of the midwives who signed your cases. I recommend that physicians should sign the suturing and IV injections so the BOM will not question about it anymore

Good luck in the interview guys. A lot was asked, like what is a partograph. When the Board of Midwifery (BOM) asks, always say that that you watched over the mother from 1st to 4th stage of labor.. Also know House Resolution 100. Cardiography: the midwifery PRC completion form can be obtained from the PRC office - application division. but i have a template of the cases if you want to. post your email. God bless

To owie86, The Board Certificate is NOT needed. Your RN license is all that is needed. You can still take the April 28-29 exam since the deadline is still on April 8. I hope you can get cases this March in time. The cases should be dated after your registration date as an RN. To alxsRN, Thanks for the trust. Good Day. Yes sometimes if only 1 midwife would sign the PRC Completion Form, it would be OK. But there are some skeptical personnel in the PRC, who says it is imposible if only 1 midwife would sign. Anyway, filed my application a month ago, consequently, I along with other early midwifery board applicants are called for an interview this friday. you can get the cases anywhere. If you have connections with some hospitals or lying in clinics, the better. The deadline for the RM exam application is April 8, so a little time left to gather 20 cases. It would be wise to just ask cases from your connections.

I just visited PRC Manila yesterday, and YES, we, Registered Nurses can still take the APRIL 2010 exam on April 28-29. Some reminders On the 20 Delivery cases, only a midwife should sign. I was reminded that not only one midwife should sign. At least 2 Dates of the Deliveries should happen after the RN Registration date Submit as early as this month or next month para peace of mind na, hehe. The next Midwifery exam is on April 28 & 29, 2010. The deadline for filing the application is on April 8, 2010. I'll be going to PRC this Tuesday to verify if we can't really take the April exam anymore. I'll be filing my application this month para maayos na agad if may problema. Let's hope talaga na pwede pa tayo mag take. You can get cases from hospitals where you have connections. You may have relatives or friends. Anyway, always bare in mind that the date of the cases should always be after your registration date as an RN. Ingat
