Do I tip an RN performing laser hair removal?
When I worked at a med spa, the aesheticians who performed the facials, etc., accepted tips. However, the healthcare professionals such as the nurses or Np's were not allowed by management to accept tips. Maybe it's an ethical principle since we are still healthcare workers? I suppose a customer can always offer to be polite, but likely the professional would be inclined to politely decline :) That is nice of you to ask, though.

Valley Memory Master Flashcards- New in Box
Hello all. I am just finishing up my CRNA program. I am getting ready to move out of my apt and realized i have these 2012 Valley Anesthesia Memory Master Review Cards new in box, never even opened. Trying to weed out the clutter and sell anything I don't really need. I could really use the extra money while I am study for boards and hey, maybe someone else can put these to good use and save some money off of the original retail price. The reason I don't *need* them, by the way, is because the content of these cards are identical to the Memory Master book. The purpose of the Flash Cards is simply for people who prefer to learn from traditional flash card format. The Valley Memory Master Flashcards sell for $400 (or $250 with review course registration). Feel free to make me an offer. Thanks.

Anyone hear from Columbia
Hello! Just wondering if any accepted future SRNAs are going to be attending the Open House at Columbia January 29, 2010? I live out of town & I may not be able to make it due to my crazy work/school schedule. If anyone is attending & so kind, I was wondering if you can please update me on the information that is presented so I know what to expect. I would also pay postage if you can get me a copy of any handouts. I appreciate it a lot! Thanks guys, looking forward to meeting everyone!!

Anyone attended previous Nurse anesthesia school and withdrawn
I have a friend who attends Barry University & I heard they are really nurturing. I think you can get a good feel about how friendly/unfriendly a program is during the interview process.

Is it compulsory to get icu experience to become crna?
I know for a fact that Interamerican University in Peurto Rico accepts OR experience. Tuition is super reasonable too, like $18,000 for full tuition including books. ....just hope your Spanish is good! : ) I believe you need to retake your RN boards in Spanish. Program is supposed to be really good/nurturing. Only con I heard was limited experience doing spinal anesthesia. Hope this helped : )

The translation from an ICU nurse to an CRNA
Hey aflac, in response to your question, I'm quite sure you need at least 1 year of regular ICU experience (prefarably 2) in a hospital ICU before a travel agency will even hire you for the unit. Travel nursing means you are already skilled and on your own and you serve as supplemental staff (minimal training given, they only orient you to the unit/show you where supplies are for the first day or two if you're lucky).
