  1. Hi Mint86, I did have an interview a few weeks back and I did receive a letter that I was on the wait list. My webadvisor status now says "waitlisted". Good luck to you and it seems to have helped others to call over to the administration office if you have not yet been given a change in status. Sending good vibes your way!
  2. How long did your CPR class take?
  3. Does anyone know: is the AHA class online? And if so what the cost is?
  4. Does anyone know if the hospitals look care about if you have a associates degree RN or BSN?
  5. Hi again everyone! Just wondering about some more requirements for the program. I was told at one point by a counselor that the math test is something that people who are admitted actually take once they are in the program. I've also heard that if you don't pass it before the program begins that they can deny acceptance. It looked like from their website that if you don't pass it, you have to agree to a certain number of hours of tutoring. Does anyone have more information about this? Thanks!
  6. Hi Everyone, I've been out of the loop here for a bit due to a family emergency which is stable for right now. CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who got accepted!!! That's fantastic. And hang in there everyone else because, according to posts like this from last year, they sometimes let people know about acceptance from when they send out the first round up until the last minute. I'm on the wait list and I feel good about that as I've been told that there usually is movement with the wait list. If not then I'm ready to reactivate my application in March for August. Fingers crossed and good vibes a plenty that I get in for May! Hope to meet you all soon. :heartbeat
  7. Hi Dawn, I'd love to PM you for the information on the reading but I'm not sure how... Is the pathophysiology book you are talking about titled: Pathophysiology - Concepts of Altered Health States (7th edition) by Carol Mattson Porth? Thanks SO much for your info.
  8. Hi there! I too was experiencing difficulty with signing to my web-advisor account earlier but I was just able to log in. Has anyone received an interview invite yesterday or today yet? Hopefully they will send out more this week! Good vibes!!! :heartbeat
  9. Hey SL, Don't worry. I have a feeling that this year its taking longer because in the past they've typically done group interviews and I heard that they aren't doing that this time around. I think they are just behind. Also, the counseling session was optional and just for people who had specific questions for a counselor or wanted to have a quick transcript review. Fingers crossed and in posts like this from previous years, I saw that around this time they don't usually get back to people right away or at all. Thinking good thoughts!
  10. Hi Sugarlips! Did you hear anything yet? My nursing info. session was back in August 2008. Are you talking about that or the counseling session? Good luck and let me know if you hear anything about an interview.
  11. Hi Everyone! I spoke to the nursing admin. dept. last week and was also told that they would be sending out more interview invites this week. Has anyone received one yet? Thanks! Keeping fingers crossed for everyone.
  12. Hi Sugarlips, I didn't hear back either! I wonder what the deal is. Its definitely driving me crazy but I'm trying to stay calm about it. Sending good vibes so that we all get interviews!
  13. Hi Guys! More information regarding the interview schedule. I've heard that they will go on break from 12/23-1/4 so hopefully we'll hear today or tomorrow. We could also hear right when they return from break. Here is some info. about the Medical Ethics course which can be taken either before admission to the program or once you get in. Sorry for the long post here but there's some useful info. From an Allnurses post: I just started with the May cohort. I took the Taylor online bioethics class and completed it in less than a month so it's definitely doable even if you're slacking a bit. There are 5 papers, 4 are 6-8 pages and the last one is 25-30 pages. It may seem like a lot of work but the instructor is a very lenient grader. It will also save you a lot of money since MSMC will charge close to $1000 per unit (3 unit course second semester). From MSMC Website (a power point I dug up from an info. Session they had) There are upper division Phil. courses that are transferable for our Bioethics requirement. *UCLA Phil 155 Medical Ethics *LMU Phil 330 Cont. Moral Problems *Taylor Univ.(Indiana) Phil 410E (online) More examples of courses that meet Bioethics requirement California State University: Fullerton- Phil 314 Medical Ethics Long Beach- Phil 403 Medical Ethics Los Angeles- Phil 429 Bioethics Cal State Poly Pomona-Phil 433 Bioethics Loyola Marymount University- Phil 330 Contemporary Moral Problems San Diego State University- Phil 330 Medical Ethics Taylor University (Indiana) Online course Phil 410E Bioethics University of California: Los Angeles- Phil 155 Medical Ethics Irvine- Phil 131C Medical Ethics Riverside- Phil 167 Biomedical Ethics San Diego- Phil 163 Biomedical Ethics
  14. Hi Betsyct! Thanks so much for the response. This is my first time applying to the program. I have gotten straight A's in my prepreqs so far since I've started school again (I got my BA over 15 years ago). My GPA from college was not that great. I've also received C's in 2 of the non-science classes that qualify for the prereqs. I noticed that on their application this time, that they only allow for their applicants be have been able to have received C's in 1 class, but I'm not sure if that's just for the science classes. In any case, I have a good amount of experience in the medical field and since getting my Bachelor's, I've been a straight A student so I'm hoping they weigh the whole package, which I know that nursing schools do more often than not. Is this your first or second time applying? Thanks again!
