  1. I have a BS in Biology, a BA is Psychology and am pursuing my ADN in nursing. I am currently doing cancer research at a world-reknowned children's hospital. I decided on the ADN b/c I want to continue my career here so only had the option of the ADN program (offered a nights/weekend option). I intend to pursue a MSN for non-nursing major RN's so I didn't feel that a BSN, in my case, was necessary. I am required to be working as an RN to qualify for this option. So, my question is, with all that I have already, my ADN makes me unemployable b/c it is not a BSN??? I looked at RN-BSN programs in my area and they consist of management, evidence based practice/nursing research, and a community health class. I just don't see how these 3 classes would make much of difference in my capabilities as a new nurse unless I went into community nursing. Any thoughts/advice?
  2. You are ranked solely by your admission index score. As long as you meet the minimum requirements and your admission score is in the top 60, you get in. I had the minimum GPA required, A's in Micro, A&P 1&2, and a 150 on the NLN. I got in.
  3. To throw in my 2 cents, I am in my 2nd year at SWCC. You are ranked solely by your admission index score. If there is a tie for the last few spaces, they then base it on your essay to decide who gets selected. Although I guess having a CNA is always a good thing, very few of us in the program have anything like that. In fact, I'd say at least 50% don't have any medical experience!! I personally would focus my time and energy on A&P and Micro. The grades you receive in those classes will carry far more weight than a CNA. FYI - my index score was 65.1.
  4. Hi all! I am due to graduate with my ADN in May and have read about how hard it is to find jobs. I was curious about how things are in Memphis specifically. Are new grads finding jobs here or is it as bad as they say it is?
