Will be starting clincial calculations, need help.
Another good book that we use is Calculate with Confidence by Gray Morris. It shows you different methods of the calculations and you can choose which one you are more comfortable with and it gives SO many practice problems. Good Luck!

Curious of other schools' policies about MED MATH EXAMS at the start of each semester
In my program, we take them at the end of every semester (right before finals) and we are also given 2 chances to get a 95% or better. If you do not pass the test on the second try, you get kicked out of the program completely. So honestly, the fact that they give you the opportunity to rearrange your schedule if you do not pass it is pretty generous. Good luck!

Pace CDP - Jan 2011 start
You just wear your scrubs to lab and clinical. They go over all of it with you during orientation. If you go on to Pace's book store website, you can get all the ISBNs for the books you need. Get them online because it will save you a lot of money (I paid over $1000 for books last spring at the bookstore). If you have any other questions let me know! And good luck!

Pace Accelerated Program- Spring 20100
Pathophysiology....It will be the HARDEST class you will take in the first semester. The book that you use in class is very in depth and it is a hard read as well. So any books to supplement that will be good. The next year will be the hardest, most stressful, most exhausting year of your life. Getting kicked out is a reality. I have a strong medical and science background and I was kicked out of the program. I am in the 4-year program now and I'm doing great (My GPA is a 3.6 for this past semester). The CDP is very fast and intense. Don't hesitate to ask for help and don't be surprised when you don't see your friends or family for a year. All I can say is it's a lot, and that is what I've been saying all along. I wish you guys luck and maybe I'll see you around Lienhard next semester.

Pace Accelerated Program- Spring 20100
The Westchester program isn't much better. Many of the same problems. And you are gonna need a lot more then a NCLEX book and a Med term book to prep for it....

Washcaps, I wouldn't give up on an accelerated program all together. There are numerous ABSN programs around both NYC and Westchester. My advice to you is do your research. Nursing school is hard no matter how you do it. Keep at the pre-reqs because whatever you choose to do, they will help you. Good luck!

The Pleastantville program isn't much better. The professors are all the same as NYC and you go through you most important courses (MedSurg, Pharm, OB, and Peds) over the summer semester. Many of the students felt that they did not retain any information or learn anything this past summer because it was so fast. The one year program is 3 years of nursing school in 3 semesters. The people that have posted about the NYC program are in no way exaggerating, it is that bad. If you "fail" a class (a 76 is failing) or you do not meet the 3.0 GPA requirement, you will be dismissed from the program. Appeals are not granted, and then they have you between a rock and a hard place. You can either leave and flush the $15,000 you spent on the first semester down the toilet or (if you GPA is above a 2.75) you can enter into the 4 year program and that will take you at least 2 more years (at $18,000 a semester). I came across all of these comments after I had committed to attend. I wish I found this before hand. In making my decision, I had spoken to many people that I worked with (I have a pretty extensive Medical background) and from the RNs to the NPs, everyone had something good to say about Pace's program. However, 2 weeks into the program, I knew that was not the case. So like everyone else has said about the program, please don't take my word or anyone else's as the end all be all and PLEASE do your research.

All I can say is good luck everyone. .38 of a point below the required grade gets you kicked out. Don't bother appealing because even when numerous staff members agree that you have a basis for an appeal, you will get denied. So you get sent to the 4 year program for 2 years and $30K more. If you have a chose, do not go into this program. It is nothing but a headache.

Pace University CDP Fall 2010 Post Here!
Megm, Tution and fees: $14,697.00, Books and supplies: well over $1000, Uniforms: about $40 per scrub set. This is the cost for one semester. Books remain about the same for each semester. If you were accepted and decided to go, good luck. It is brutal.

I don't know. :\ I'm an EMT so I already have a BP cuff and a stethoscope and trauma shears so I don't want to spend $200 if I don't have to... Did you find shoes yet???
