  1. Hello, I am starting a nursing program in Orlando, fl 2006. I am originally from Chattanooga up until 4 years ago and my husband would like to move back home after I graduate. Can anyone tell me the nursing situation in Chattanooga? I mostly need to know about pay scale for a new grad or one with 1 or 2 years experience because my husband is going back to school and will not be working at the time. I am a little scared to move back home and not be able to easily support my family in a nice area with good schools. Thank you, Cdeefiesta
  2. Hello, I was wondering about SSC scores and if they have improved, I guess not. Its great you are starting this fall into FHCHS you will be starting with 2 friends of mine. Its odd that your friend didn't get in with a 3.70 because one of my friends got in with a 3.11. I was surprised but maybe she excelled somewhere I don't know about. Good luck, Cara
  3. I am so glad I stumbled on this discussion. For the past year or two I have been trying to decide if I should go into nurse education or not. I have been attracted to this field but was just plan scared about not knowing a question a student would ask me. (Or just plan afraid I would make an A** of myself) Its good to know I don't have to know everything about nursing. Just curious on how current instructors handle student questions when its something you don't know?
  4. Hey Cheri, wow it has been a while since we have talked. Well, I am almost finished with my A.A degree and am going to apply for UCF Nursing Fall 2006. (cross my fingers) I will have all the pre requisites done and general education except for the foreign language so I think I will have a good chance. But just in case I am still applying to Valencia for Fall 2006. So how do you like Deaconess? More and more people seem to be interested in the online programs. If I don't get into UCF I will probably do the RN to BSN online also. But I hope it doesn't come down to that I don't want to have to do 4 years instead of 2 to get a BSN. Well, it was great hearing from you! Keep me informed on how thinks are going for you! Best of Luck, Cara
  5. ]Hello everyone, I am pre-nursing and am thinking about going for a 4 year degree instead of a two year. Does anyone have any info about UCF? Things like GPA requirements, GPAs of people who go into the program and if you need to have everything down before you apply to the program. Any information you can tell me will be appreciated! Thank you, Cara
  6. hello still thinking, although i am not a nursing student i can give you some advise. you really don't have to pick which school to go with until you are about 1 semester away from being done with prerequisites. as far as how good the nursing programs are i have heard excellent things about valencia and fhchs from nursing students. but i am still going to transfer to seminole. now if you want to get started in the actual nursing program quickly, the fastest way is fhchs. they don't require you to be done with everything before you start. one of my friends is still in a&p 2 and has 3 more classes to finish and she has been accepted for august of this year at fhchs. right now if you turn in your application, today, with all of your prerequisites done at valencia the earliest you will begin is summer of 2006. i hope this helps! cdeefiesta :)
  7. Hi, Angley College is opening a campus in Orlando in about 2 weeks, so I went and asked questions about their program. It takes 90 days to complete the phlebotomy training and guess how much it costs? $$$$3350 are they crazy? That's completely ridiculous! Cara Corbett
  8. Hello and thanks for answering my post, :balloons: After you completed that program were you able to be employed as a phlebotomist? And if you know, how much do beginning phlebotimists get paid? Thank you sooo much! Cara I appreciate any information anyone else can provide!
  9. Hello everyone, Does anyone know of a phlebotomy training program in or close to Orlando? I really appreciate any replies to this, Cara
  10. Valencia verses Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences Hello everyone, I am a current Valencia student in my second semester of general education classes. I know Valencia's nursing program had a higher first time pass rate last year, and its a great program. But I would like others options on which has the better program. I would like anyone's input on this subject. Especially the veteran nurses who have worked with new nurse grads. Thanks, Cara
  11. i agree with you guynurse. i am a student and i will be glad once i am done with college, but i expect to be compensated for my skills, especially when i get experience! i know several veteran nurses who are making less than 30 buck an hour. florida pay rates are crazy! i will work in florida for about one year and if i am getting paid dirt, i will move! p.s i am not getting into nursing for the money. i didn't even know nurses make as much as they do in some other states. i just feel like i want to be paid fairly for my passion.
  12. hello, i would like to invite anyone majoring in nursing to join a new orlando student nurse forum. its a great way to meet people and get information about all the nursing programs in orlando. cara p.s. this a forum that welcomes both current and prospective students.
