  1. Hi and welcome here, I think she does not need to start a visascreen process because she got a visa already. You are doing well, she needs to follow the instructions on CGFNS, to get the verification of her credentials, and then take the NCLEX exam, it depends of the Nursing Board of the state she lives. Every state has its own requirements, the majority of them ask for the nclex exam, but others still ask the cgfns, you should check the this page also http://www.ncsbn.org. I hope it helps you. Regards. :)
  2. Hi, Answering your questions my friend, i would say that the main reason for inmigration is not jus the money. The country health system of many of us really does not work. Working more than two thousand hours per month and earning less than $300 is not fair. Our system is ineffective, we do not receive enough training, the pieces of equipment are insuficient and very old too, our effort for study is not well considered, our goals are limited by these kind of problems. I know many of foreing nurses think to come back home someday, it is a dream to achieve, a deep and strong feeling, but the reality is different to our emotional reasons. The better life conditions that other country offer us and our family are stronger when you think to come back. The system is not going to change just because our best wishes. Finally, i can say my country is the most beautiful place that exist in the world, but it is not the safest and peaceful. And the protection and well being of my family are the most important things to get and keep.
  3. Hi everybody, I am studying for the NCLEX exam, and i woul like to have your opinions about the best sources to study it, i was thinking in the Mosby Review, i heard about Kaplan and Lippincott and the Incredibly easy guide too. I also need a pharmacologycal guide and a book for learning thecnician words. Thank for any advice.
  4. There are South American Nurses here really... i am one of them, i am from Lima Peru. Being a nurse in my country like others South American countries is very different than in U.S.A. i think. Here the nurse is responsible of the mayority of activities related to the health patient, in public hospitals a nurse can have 40- 45 patients in a unit and she have to assistents to work with, the nurse have to supervise the cleaning, the medication, the feeding, have to take the blood, urine samples, etc, have to take the better and quick actions when she thinks it is necessary, doctors come and check patients just for 10 minuets (average) and the rest of the day they have to come when we need it is necessary , nurses are responsible of the physical, pshycological and spiritual health of the patients, her/his families and also the community we live in. Nurses in my country like others work many hours for earning few money, the minimum of hours that a nurse has to work here is 150 per month, but doing that you only can earn 1500 soles = $450 (american dollars/per month), it is difficult to live with this amount of money, because of that many of us have to work in two places and work 300 hours/per month aprox. As a result, many of us are interested in working abroad, that is sad because we love our country and our people, but if you think in having a better quality of life and you know there are places where our human rigths can be respected that is why we choose a different option...working abroad.
  5. Thanks for your answers, i will considere your advises, and i am sure i will have more questios for you soon. Best regards. N.
  6. Hi, I'm confused about taking the cgfns or nclex examination, following my friend's advise i'm going to start the process in order to take the cgfns exam here in my country(Peru) on november, but now i frequently read about cgfns is not really necessary. I know it depends of the country you are thinking to work in, in my case the states where i could work are Arizona, North Caroline, Illinois, Colorado (places where i have friends). The question is what could you really advise me, it is better to choose a state that not ask for the cgfns? or should i take both examinations?. I would really appreciate your help.
