ASU Summer 2010 Program Applicants
First of all, I would like to say congratulations on getting in to ASU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome to a wonderful journey! As a senior in the nursing program in ASU, I can honestly say that you do not need to study before school starts. The best thing for you to do is to relax and spend time with your family and friends. Have some fun because once school starts, your social life is pretty much non-existent. I live on the Gilbert/Queen Creek border, and I have never been sent to the west side for clinicals. Learning communities change every semester, which you will come to find is a GOOD thing. I know you all have orientation this Friday. Think about getting involved. CCNS is an awesome organization, looks great on resumes, and does not take up a lot of outside time. Remember to take care of yourself during school. Eat right, and get a good night's sleep, especially before a test. Make sure you have a good support system. You will need it. Nursing school needs to be your priority. You will literally eat, sleep, and breathe it for the next 4 semesters. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Maricopa Medical Center
Hello everybody! I am new to allnurses.com. I am in nursing school at ASU, and I will be in my Senior 1 semester in January. I am really interested in working the burn unit at Maricopa Medical Center. Does anybody have any advice for me? What is the work environment like? I heard from my clinical instructor that the nurses there do all their own lab draws. She also told me that since it's a teaching hospital, the nurses have a little more freedom to tell the residents if they disagree with what they are doing. Does Maricopa Medical Center offer nurse externships? I am going to try and do my preceptorship there my last semester. Any tips, ideas, and help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
