  1. We currently have sterilized blanket rolls that we can unroll and roll back up intra-operatively for total knee surgeries. Our hospital's sterile supply department is trying to go linen free, which would eliminate these. What are other institutions using to aid the surgeon in flexing/extending the knee with bumps during surgery? Any suggestions, websites, etc would be extremely helpful!
  2. Canesdukegirl, thanks for the link! Those look very ideal!!
  3. We are currently looking for new desks for our OR. Basically something that rolls, has space for a computer monitor, writing space and storage underneath for the CPU unit and perhaps some chart/folder space. The ones we are trialing have all of this but the monitor hangs over onto the workspace so it makes charting and such very difficult. What are you all using?
  4. Do any of you use the Intuitive Robotic Surgery console? If so, what do you use for an obturator in your 8mm robotic ports? We are currently using a blue obturator that previously was made by Taut, now made by Intuitive (the non disposable obturators are d/c'd) The patient incurs a HUGE charge for these but we currently have no other, cheaper options. I'd love to know what you are using and how much the cost is. Thanks!

Just in talking to recruiters from Nurses RX and RN Network they didn't really sell themselves that well.... it was a one sided conversation and they didn't boast their company like they should have... I'm between about 4 companies right now and I am just having a hard time narrowing it down... all of your comments are very helpful!
  6. Jamie, Who did you go through? Are the staff nice and receptive to travelers? What do you do for transportation, etc? Feel free to PM me if you would like... thanks!

Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with Nurses RX, good or bad, please share.... Thanks!
  9. Swater, What experience do you have with Access Nurses? Have you had luck with them and travel assignments to Hawaii?
  10. Just wondering if anyone has been on any travel nursing assignments to Hawaii. Id like to know what your experiences are, where you stayed, who your agency was, what your benefits/wages were and how you liked it. Feel free to get back to me! Any information would be much appreciated. Thanks so much, this really is stressful!
  11. Although it is not in any of the countries you have mentioned you want to go to, Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine has a very fine reputation for their OR program. They have two a year and accept anywhere from 2-4 students. I hope to be starting there in the Spring. I dont know if this was of any help to you. But Portland is a wonder ful city and Maine Medical Center is a well known teaching hospital. Good luck!!! on
