Hi everyone, I am a nursing student and I have to write an argumentative paper on ethical issues and issues within the nicu and care for the babies. if anyone has any ideas on issues or worked in the nicu and had to deal with ethics please post below. i could use alot of help lol:D thanks sabrina

Hi I was wondering how much everyone was making as a cna. in the state of illinois(bloomington/normal area) i make $10.50 an hour(2nd & 3rd shift /$10 for 1st shift) and can increase yearly. how much are you making in your area along with the starting pay?

thanks coffeemate for your reply it made me feel a little better. what made me feel worst was it was a simple mistake that the staff made me feel like was the worst thing ever. and trust me i have been in search of the other cnas and even asked for help yet once again nowhere in the building to be found im guessing 3 out of the 5 are on breaks together(all friends). also the nurses already knows that this resident refuses care and hates everyone even when i did return to her she still didnt want me to talk or touch her. i offered her the restroom,food,bed everything and she didnt want me at all. it took 2 other cnas and the nurse to finally get her to get changed. hopefully things will get better

i guess it depends on whos doing the hiring. i actually have an "obvious gay guy" working at my job who has a high pitched voice and acts very feminine yet he's been there for a long time(hes in his 20's too) his ex boyfriend even calls the job for him several times yet nobody discriminates. if someone doesent want to hire you move on! its their loss and trust me another door will open :) best of luck to you!!!

i recently got a cna job(1st job) working at a nursing home and this is my 3rd week there. i work 2nd shift and was taking care of 13 people by myself last night. well this patient refused my care and didnt want me to change,talk or even touch her. i tried to help her but she wouldnt even talk to me so i left her alone. well the nurse told me that "almost all my patients were wet and how i should get help if i need it" well theres 5 cnas taking care of 11-13 residents each and nobody is there to be found! and now im getting blamed for this in which the nurse decided to tell everyone on the floor about my mistake. i wasnt even able to pass snacks because of the problem with this resident which the nurse knew about twice last night. im so stressed out and i dont want to lose my job! how can i take care of this matter??? the nurse is blaming me for this and shes not even doing her job herself only gossiping

im definately a cuddler. its SO hard to not get attached to those babies. i volunteered last year in the mbu and could rock the healthy babies. not only that but i was able to see a live birth even hold the ladies legs. i cant wait until i finish nursing school so i can start applying for nicu jobs!

My dream job of course would be a level III nicu nurse and i was wondering is the nicu stressful? and whats the most stressful experiences you've had working in that department?

thank you for your replies. i started shadowing at hospitals in the maternal-newborn unit when i was 17 and loved it! recently i called around a couple of hospitals to see if i can shadow in the nicu.Hopefully i will hear from the very soon!

HI everyone, im new to the group just signed up today.im 18 and starting nursing school in a month. My goal is to become a level III nicu nurse but im unsure about how to become one. After i finish nursing school what certifications should i have? do i need extra training? if so what kind and how much schooling is required to work in level III? also if theres any other info i should know please share lol. thanks for answering -sabrina-
