....Things are okay.. not going the way I planned but okay.. I talked to the counselor at SWIC in October and he notified me that neither my Chamberlain grades or my high school grades were not enough to get me into the program, and because it was October I would not be able to meet the minimum requirements to get in.. BUT.. I was once again accepted into the Medical Assistant program. I'm gonna go ahead and do it. I'm just tired of being told I will get into a program, or I won't get into a program. I just wanna have my degree already!! Only thing that stinks now is orientation for the Med Asst program is January 6 and I'm getting my gall bladder out a few days before that. I hope I'm feeling okay by then cause orientation is mandatory! I'm glad to hear that you are getting things done though! I'm really hoping you get in! You gotta let me know how it goes either way. Thank you! I have talked to them and am in the process of applying. (I have to take a test, have an interview, and submit 2 letters from references) so I definitely know that it's not a cake walk. I was just wanted to hear what the students thought of the program.

I was wondering if anyone has take the 11 month LPN course offered at Beck Area Career Center in Red Bud, Illinois? I am thinking about taking it but I haven't really heard any reviews on it (positive or negative). My friend heard a rumor that people who can't get accepted anywhere else go there. I'm wondering if places hire graduates from there and how difficult/worthwhile the coursework is there. Also, I don't believe they offer IV certification, so if you went there, where did you get IV certified? Thanks so much!

I hear the math portion is fairly easy, mostly algebra and pre-algebra (and you only have to get a 77% or higher to earn all four points. The english part is supposedly harder but I'm not sure exactly what they ask and you need an 80% or higher for all four points. I really hope we both get the points! I have been taking classes at SWIC for different things since 2007 when I got my CNA and I love it there. I'm not sure what town you are living in, but there is also a LPN program in Red Bud, IL at the Beck Career Center. I'm thinking about taking it if I'm not accepted. For awhile I was thinking about becoming a Medical Assistant because I've been accepted into the program before.. But I've read a lot of negative things about becoming a MA.. I figure as long as I'm doing the medical route, I may as well go all the way! If you get 15 pts by the end of the semester and get 2's or 4's on your admission exam I'm absolutely positive you will make it into the program! Stay positive!

Yay! I'm not alone! I've applied to the SWIC nursing program too! I went to SWIC and got all of my pre-reqs done.. Then I went to Chamberlain because I thought it would be quicker and easier. While it wasn't very difficult it was super expensive and I had to quit after my second trimester so now I'm not in school but applying to different programs. According to the pre-nursing form I will have about 19 points and the counselor said they accept people who have between 15-17 so I hope I make it. I am also applying to Lewis and Clark.
