  1. I am aware that I am off topic. But you don't need to reiterate that. I just can't find a thread that fits my comment. Peace .
  2. Hi guys, I really value your input on this matter. Here's my data: - BSN holder from the Philippines. - Canadian citizen (my spouse is the principal applicant). - I'm gonna start my Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing by November this year in Canada. The issue: My husband have a job prospect/offer in Silicon Valley. I am just wondering if a spouse of H1B visa holder can sit for the NCLEX exam given my circumstances? I was told that I am not allowed (cause 1. I'm not an RN from the Philippines 2. I am not American Citizen) but would like to hear some inputs here. Also, I would like to study again. If we happen to stay in San Francisco maybe I can just study LVN there and cancel my upcoming schooling here. That is, if the visa permits. I heard there is new H4 Visa EAD that can allow dependent spouse to work in the States. But after the I-140 (Immigrant Worker Petition) is approved. Thanks for reading guys!
  3. I read an article about a nurse with bipolar. I'm wondering if that could work in a psych ward since the bipolar nurse see things on both sides.
  4. I'm in a waiting list for the RDPN Program of Stenberg College. They have hundreds of applicants this season according to the Program registrar. She's not even sure if I'm in next spring. I'm really surprised cause they claim they don't have a waiting list in their website. Well I guess the online schooling is a hit nowadays....
  5. Those data is hard to find to non existent especially for an immigrant who only rely information from Dr. Google not on the actual person that is.
  6. Those data is hard to find especially for an immigrant who have no one to ask but the internet... :-(
  7. Hi there! How was like studying at Stenberg College? Is it worth the money? Our family income will not qualify for a full student loan so we will be shedding our own savings for the tuition fee. I just want to know first hand from actual students how was like being a student or graduate of this institution. If everything's turns out well with enrolment and stuff, l'm gonna start my RPN studies on Nov 2014 intake. PS. I perfectly understand the advantage of going to a public school BUT l'm buying time here. And I'm on my early 30s now, I don't have that much privilege to wait.
  8. I'm aware that I should just read the info's from CELBAN website and give them a call but still a personal experience is something different in a sense that you can share what someone have learned and maybe share a lesson from it.
  9. Hello Nurses! I'm an IEN seeking to practice as LPN here in BC. And like other IENs, I have lots of queries in this matter particularly with language proficiency exams. I'm planning to take CELBAN, third quarter of this year. So I wanted to address this to IEN's who undertook the exam. And to be specific here goes; 1. Is the test easier to pass compared to IELTS (in my case I took Academic IELTS first and failed to reach the required bands), since the exam is nursing focused? This besides the fact that a candidate should be in the upper English level before sitting to this exam. 2. The review resources are limited for CELBAN. Should I stick with the limited resources and just work on it beside my academic English review materials? 3. I know this is way over my head, but hypothetically I passed the CELBAN but the CLPNBC (or any other nursing regulatory bodies in Canada) decided after their further assessment that I need to take a refresher course in a college or university. Will some, if not all, of this nursing educational institutions in Canada accept CELBAN as a proof of language proficiency prior get in the course/program? Thank you so much for taking time to read my long post and I hope I deliver my questions clearly. May God bless our new life in Canada.
  10. I received a reply from the CLPNBC which I quoted ''Yes, you can still apply for assessment without those forms. Your assessment will be based on the ICES report''. Please take note that the forms that she is referring to is the verification of registration and employment and role verification which I both don't have. Hope I don't need to study all over again after the assessment. Hope I'm able to enlighten others with the same issue. Goodluck to us all. And if nursing is for us. It will eventually be .
  11. hi guys! is this thread still active? lm in BC for a month now and was informed by a former nurse in Manila that l have to study again even as LPN with or WITHOUT a Philippine license. lm planning to go back to Manila to take my local board there for December but now lm thinking twice. Will verify with the CLPNBC though.
  12. Hi. I took the NLE twice already and thingking of retaking it again. I heard that there would be an NP 6 NEXT season (coz the first batch from the new nursing curriculum will be graduating this time). Well that means to say its even harder this time. Im really confused if I will enroll in a reiew center or just self review.
  13. Hi guys. Hope anyone could bear on my situation. I'm Canadian PR Visa holder, I graduated with a BSN degree last April 2011 here in the Phil. but I failed the NLE twice. Since according to the CLPNBC, registration in the country of origin is not required then I wanted to try the LPN route given a chance. I actually wanted to be an RN that's why I stayed here longer with my toddler (my husband is in BC for a year now). But I think two NLE takes is enough and I wanted to be reunited with my husband now. Just wanted to know if anyone goes through with the same process and been able to sit for the LPN exam in BC. Employment and role verification (sent by the CLPNBC to relevant employers). Can someone expound on this, its one of the requirements listed? TY again. Thanks for reading.
  14. @philgraduatenurse Im in the same predicament as u are. I failed the NLE twice and thinking to be an LPN in BC (local registration is not required, according to the site). I jst wanted to know if anyone here goes through with the same procedure. ty in advance.
