  1. Krebs, Bro, the most profound thing iv'e heard from any nurse was from a "male" nurse in the ed while i was a 3rd year student. He said (in frustration) ..."this is NOT a @#$#@ construction site!"). No explanation necessary for me. There are days when I go home and I just want to get my hands dirty from something other than the usual...but all things considered, I'm in the right profession. SO many options...Some advice:Obtain a good knowledge base, ASK questions, and DO NOT think outloud ! Another thing; docs WILL treat you differently than your female counterparts. Beleive it, and do nothing to change it - It is our unique advantage. It's hard to be a man...LOL
  2. took me about one year before i could come home and fall asleep right away, that was five years ago and i have no regrets. consider all the "good" there is to working nights: no meals to serve, no visitors to pamper, no phones ringing, no admin types, and less i forget...NO docs (unless needed). night shifters are a different breed, some good, some slugs, but mostly happy to be on the shift they prefer. good luck. O'D
  3. hey halothane, your inputs are pretty inflamatory towards nurses. let me ask you and all of the docs out there: are there any problems that doctors have (professionally or financially) that weren't created by your predecessors)? please enlighten this poor uneducated dumb nurse. to read your post(s), one has to think all md's are just brilliant and are research "geniuses". you must be kidding..lol. medicine is NOT rocket science. I don't know a single nurse who does not respect the effort and dilligence it takes to complete all the steps to becoming an MD. That earned respect is acutely diminished when I read your oral gas...as for the money crna's make-they didn't set the market, too few MDA's probably did. I am strongly considering a CRNA program, and perhaps one day I will work under your supervision. A word of advice if that day comes: keep your identity and opinions on the web. Your dentist has enough work.
