  1. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I just graduated from nursing school on Wednesday and the feeling is amazing! I used to read the future material on the beach to get a head start. It's actually the best advice I can give. I retained so much more information because I did not feel pressured to read :) Keep pushing because in the end it's all worth it! good luck!
  2. Well I'm in my 3rd semester of a 4 semester associate's program. (YAHOO!!!) I have 11 months left until I can finally call myself an RN. At the beginning I was beyond confident with clinicals but as the semesters go on, my anxiety becomes worse and worse. I find it really wierd because I've been working at an ER for the past 7 years. Maybe it's the whole 'I'm not in control' aspect or the 'All eyes on me' and the dreaded white uniform?? Are anyone of you extremely anxious during clinical time? I have found that most of the hospitals that I'm in the census is very low and we only have 1 or 2 patients at a time. Also, all of my patients have been really really young (18-40) and can bathe themselves, get up and use the bathroom, feed themselves so all I've really done is given a shot or two, hung an IV, and made A LOT of beds. I beg and beg my instructors to give me people I can actually learn on but it still hasn't happened and I began this program in ******* September of 2010! Most of the time I walk around see if my classmates need help or just hide out and become soooooooooooooo bored. Anyone else frustrated as well with their experiences????
  3. I'll try the flashcards thanks guys!! I think a huge problem is I'm so fixated on the med/surg part that I'm kind of brushing nutrition to the side .. thanks for replying!
  4. My co-req of nutrition with my second semester of med-surg/psych is a complete disaster!!!! I went into the semester completely ignorant. So far I'm failing nutrition with a 73% average (75% is passing) and passing the med-surg/psych with a 77%. I feel like a complete moron which is affecting my nursing portion of the course. Have any of you had the same experience??? I seriously believe nutrition should be a pre-requesite not a co-requesite. Anyone else agree as well????? I guess this is more of a whining rant but I gotta get it out I can't stand it!!!
  5. I know exactly what it feels like!!! I'm a single mother, working 2 jobs (my daughter needs food, shelter, clothes etc lol) and going full time with nursing school in my second semester. I have had more breakdowns in the past 6 months than my whole life. My motto is "never give up never surrender". Do the best you can and if it works it works, if it doesn't it wasn't meant to be good luck!!
  6. Do what feels right to you!!!!!! I can't stress that enough, don't listen to anyone's opinions and take them seriously. We are all different in so many ways. I can tell you that I have a 6yr old daughter, I'm a single mother, and I'm also working 2 jobs. On top of that I'm in my first semester of nursing school. It has been hard BUT manageable!!!!! Especially if you have a great support system. Good luck to you and go for it!!! Why not???!! The worst that happens is you realize you may need to postpone it. No biggie!!
  7. The science was definitely the hardest part of the entire test. Lots of chemistry questions and such. I studied the Version V book because that's what my school just moved up to. The book helps!!! A LOT!
  8. I work at a hospital doing clerical duties, admissions, etc. I'd say half of the nurses can't stand their jobs and the other half absolutely love what they do! The ones that can't stand it obviously went into the healthcare field blind. It's an extremely demanding job but if you really want to do it. DON'T EVER LET ANYONE STOP YOU OR QUESTION what you want in life. GO FOR IT!!! If it's not for you, it's not for you.
  9. I ended up getting in the 76th percentile. If you really study the guide and practice hard you should do fine! Good luck to you !
  10. Hey everyone!! Well I set up my Teas Test appointment for May 14 and I am absolutely terrified!! I have been studying for this since late February and feel kind of ready but not completely ready. I was curious to see if anyone has taken the Version V yet? Did the study guide book actually help you out? The science part is my most feared section because of the chemistry, catalysts etc. Any type of input would be great!!
