Background Check DENIED
The last time I wrote something on this thread I mentioned a lawyer handling the case for me...I was apprehensive in giving the lawyer money to have the case handled because a few other lawyers in the area said that the case would not be dismissed. Now I may face the same diemma at a new school. I wanted to know if anyone else is a nursing student in NJ with any traffic/criminal violations that was able to continue with clinicals and if so what school or how where they able to continue? Any help is greatly appreciatted.

Background Check DENIED
Hey Pheonix Tech, I just realized that you requested an update on my situation. Unfortunately every person I spoke with could not give me a firm answer on whether or not I would be denied entrance into their program including the New Jersey Board of Nursing so I had a lawyer reopen the case and have it dismissed. I did not want to get into a program and then have them turn around and kick me out. Such a ridiculous process but I guess it was meant to be because I changed my mind from continuing at a 2 year school for an RN to going to a 4 year school for a BSN. I would have never considered going for my Bachelor's degree if this did not happen to me so it is for the best. Thats the best wayto look at it but its still bs!! lol

Background Check DENIED
My charge was doing 90 in a 70 mph and reckless driving which was reduced to only 79 in a 70. Even though the charge was reduced, all the steps involved in reducing the nature of the offense show up on the background check. The school that rejected me was Bergen Community College in Paramus NJ. They said no hospital would allow anyone with any type of record to do clinicals in their facilities. I tried speaking to the Nursing Directors at a few schools and they basically gave me no direction. I even contacted the NJ Board of Nursing (with a long email) and I got a brief reply in which the woman at the board was of no help. I am in the process of hiring a lawyer to have the case reopened and then taken off my record because I have no other choice in this matter. It really hurts because I worked so hard for this and now because of a stupid speeding charge I have to delay my future and pay a bunch of money to a lawyer. I would try going through other schools but it seems as if I would need to pay for the application fee and background check which begins to add up. This whole situation has aggravated me to no end but I can only pray for the best but if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them.

Background Check DENIED
Hello, I was recentley rejected by my college to enter into their nursing program because I had a speeding offense and reckless driving back in 2004. I am so upset about this and spent so much money on my education just to have them tell me I cant be in the program for a speeding offense. Is this the case at most schools? I am not sure where to turn. Has anyone passed a background check in New Jersey to get into a nursing school with something like this on their record? Please help

I went to Caldwell College's website but did not see anything for a Nursing program. Am I looking in the wrong spot?
