  1. I had a professor once tell me that sometimes grades have absolutely nothing do with our ability to be an amazing, caring, competent nurse. I always think about this when I squeek by or don't do as well as I wanted. Keep going! Use this as a fire to get you through the rest of your courses.
  2. "So every day I look at these books as we count down to the start of the semester and I think things like, "If I lay them all out on the floor and then lay on top of them perhaps I can just absorb them." Not going to lie...I had a friend do this with our physiology book two semesters ago. She slept with it under her pillow. It didn't work out too well :)
  3. I was just officially accepted a couple weeks ago! I start at the University of Portland on the 16th! I am still so excited about getting in that the anxiety hasn't really hit me yet. I was jumping up in down in a Micheal's Craft store when I got my email and everyone must have thought I was a looneytoon :) I am just finishing up all the paper work, vaccinations, CPR and all that stuff. I didn't realize exactly how much you had to do before starting. Pretty sure after the first day of class the nerves and anxiety are going to kick right on in though.
  4. I have my fingers crossed!! I am really excited to get started though. Something about Micro and Anatomy makes me realize that nursing school is so much closer than it was before.
  5. I am taking micro this semester as well as anatomy. I'm super nervous about it! My book is Alcamo's Fundamentals of Microbiology by Pommerville and my lab is Techniques f/Microbiology Student Handbook by Lamert. Classes start August 30th.
  6. At the moment I have a D+ in the class. I got a high C on my last test which increased my tests score by 16% so after talking to my professor she told me I need a 72% on my last two tests in order to get a C (which is passing for my school) Needless to say I have not had much of a life after I failed my second test. I found that writing my notes over and over again have really helped me!
  7. Thanks Anoetos I am going to give this a try tonight!
  8. Hey there! So I just bombed another test! After getting a D- on my first and now it looks like a F or a D- on this one I feel even more confused than ever. So my question is: How do you guys study for tests? I feel like since there is so much info I may be having a hard time sorting in into my head in a way that I will remember it. The test I just failed was about the chapters on carbohydrates, lipids, proteins (etc) and parts of a cell. We are now on the chapter about the plasma membrane. Any advice? Thanks a ton! ps. MsMagnificent I hope everything is going well in class and you are passing the weekly quizzes
  9. So I just took my first test this past week. I felt like I did well then I got it back...I am looking at maybe a low C . How is everyone studying for their tests? I feel like I understand the content and then I get a test question and it all goes out the window!
  10. ratemyprofessor.com is amazing! It has saved me! I don't have a bio lab with my lecture so I only go three days a week for 55 mintues but I would assume you would stay the enitre time :)
  11. My professor is amazing! She is really, really cool and makes it a great class setting to learn in. So far it is one of my favorite classes! I hope things go well with your professor when you start.
  12. So I just finished my second day of bio today. Hows it going for everyone so far if you have started?
  13. Wow good luck to you! What other sciences are you taking?
  14. The book we have is Mastering Biology by Campbell. My school doesn't make us do a bio lab just a lecture.( I don't know if thats a good thing or a bad thing?) We start taking labs when we get into microbio.
  15. When does class start for everyone and how many days a week do you take it? I start on the 11th and I take it on MWF.
