I will be moving to east Texas next summer. I like Tyler and LongView. I have 5 years in Labor & Delivery and Mother Baby. Can you give me any input in the hospital in both of those towns. Trinity Mother Francis, Longview Medical, E.T.M..ect. Which town would you live in and why? Thanks:)

Hello, I would like to hear how other hospitals staff the unit when there are no Pt's. I work on a labor & Delivery unit and on the same floor is mother and Baby and Nursery and our OR for c-sections. Phone lines and call lights are separate for mother baby and Labor & delivery. Double Doors divide the units. When we have no Pt's management wants only two RN and one tec(scrub). I feel this is unsafe you never know what is coming through the door. we need more than two RN if there was a sat c-section or deliver a bad baby. Not to long ago we had a prolapsed cord with this staff until on call people got called in the middle of craziness!!!!

Labor&delivery 3 12hour shifts in a row 7pm-7am every third weekend.

Thanks for the info! Once I start a contract when should i start looking for the Next one? I am worried about it taking to long to fine that next contract and paying the bills. This is all new to me, any input would be great. Thanks You

I want to do travel Nursing, however worried about going from one contract to the other with to much time in between. With the economy i am afraid of finding that next contract. I would be traveling in my fifth wheel and still have a house payment and teenager to raise to support. I would like a few weeks off between contracts, more than that would hurt the bank account. How do you file state taxes at the end of the year if you have been working in many states that year? Thanks

I used to work for one of them and had some training in the other. VVMC is a small hospital they are only a level 1. They grow their own RN's ( that's not a bad thing ) I think they put up with the BS because they don't no any different and or cant get out of the small town. Management not so good. Nurses don't have a voice! Small town to raise a family however not to work in!!! I love the staff i worked with laid back easy to work with. I don't know what unit you would be working in? FMC is much bigger and level of care is higher.
