2017 Fall Chattahoochee Tech Nursing Program
I appreciate the share. I'm not proud of my 72 on the teas. I scored the highest on math, but I took it just in time before the 12th and didn't study. I'm an A student though and made straight A's in a BSN program that I was in and only had 2 semesters left! I moved out of state for my spouse and changed careers to continue teaching and finished a Masters in Education. Im kicking myself now because this state is all out nepotism and it's impossible to get a full time in my specialty area of teaching. Which brings me to returning to finish this nursing where I know there will be a demand! If I don't get in here I'm moving back to continue at the university I was at. I left on good terms... it will just be a hardship on my family... the sacrifice will be worth it. I do wished that I had planned ahead to study and at least have an opportunity to take again I'm certain I would at least make a high 80... That stinks that nobody is seeking out forums or sharing. I think it's encouraging and helps pass the time as we anticipate an answer. The scores are what they are. It sounds like you have a great chance. What courses are you worried about transferring? If you look on banner (if you have not already) it will show what transferred in. Yeah, I realize there are a lot of factors and I'm counting on hoping even to make the last of the cut. Well let's keep the forum going maybe it will grow.

I'm planning to apply if I do well on the Teas. It's a little late on deciding to attend. I will update later on stats once I take my test.

Griffin Tech LPN program
I'm making a post for all those looking into Southern Crescent Technical College hopefuls for 2016 Fall entry. I had not idea that I could attend close to home! I have been looking for the cheapest route to completing a RN program. IS there anyone else planning to apply this Fall to Southern Crescent technical (formerly Griffin Tech) ASN program? I did notice the TEAS for the next upcoming is sold out.

Chattahoochee Technical College ASN Fall 2016
Well... It took me 3 hrs to get there to Canton from my house to take my TEAS and I finally received my study guide last night. I did extremely well on the Reading, English, and data interpretation and not so great on the math and physical science which dropped my average to 66. That stinks!!! I'm taking again and making sure I make time to study the math over the next month. I can't believe how high I scored on some, yet I did guess on a lot with the math and science portions because It's been too long and I needed to study. The positive is that I can take once more, I know whAt to expect and make sure it's not all the way in Canton!! I'm so tired from that trip on a FRIDAY at that.

Chattahoochee Technical College ASN Fall 2016
I'm taking my teas this Friday and thought I chose N Metro, but accidentally I will have to drive all the way to Canton!!! Ugh. I guess I will start the stats: I'm sure most of us are done with all the courses. I'm retaking a Sociology class this semester for a higher grade. My points summary without the Teas and interview is a 163 out of 200. Unfortunately, I have a C in one class and that bothers me that I was not able to retake this Spring. I just need to step it up on my TEAS. Would everyone share their stats. I do hope we all make it in. I was is a BSN program at NAU in Arizona was doing great, but decided to move because I missed my husband and other reasons too. I really miss the studying, classmates and clinicals.... Strange but true. It's important to be a team and supportive while in a program. I'm ready to finish what I started

Chattahoochee Technical College ASN Fall 2016
Hi Jamie, im applying for fall as well. I went to the session today. It was too packed I'm going in April. So, how many applicants will they choose? Was your session packed too? I just learned it's not accredited and I guess the downfall it will be difficult to transfer if wanting to get a BSN. Have you taken the tease yet? I took it awhile ago, but I plan on retaking

May 2011 NAU accelerated nursing program hopefuls!
Also, I'm not sure if they plan it this way, but a lot of applicants last year received their letters on Friday and also the early part of the next week. Good luck to you all and just a little info that I read about nursing is that nursing students are needed, the major problem with most schools is that there is not enough staff to support the number of applicants and therefore have limited seating. There is still a push for more nurses, but we are down on educators. I think this is very true as the undergrad program that I am in is having a very tough time recruiting teachers.

May 2011 NAU accelerated nursing program hopefuls!
Oops! I mean my first attempt at the HESI was a 78, because I was doing something stupid with the math and did not even study. I took it at the last minute. When I found out that I was not on the list then I decided to apply to the Undergraduate program and got in, but I was able to take the HESI again and got an 88 the 2nd go round. It's very difficult for me to be patient in this program and it seems so long, I would rather be in the accelerated with others that already have degrees like myself.

May 2011 NAU accelerated nursing program hopefuls!
I came across the same info for 2008, but I applied last year and had all my prerequisites done and a 3.4 GPA, but I did not do well on the HESI 88. I did not get on the list. More people are applying these days, but from what I read all of you will get in. The HESI and GPA is pretty heavily weighted and with GPA's above 3.5 and scores above 90 on HESI I am certain you will make the list.

Lindy, Are you referring to the Accelerated or the Traditional?

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
I'm in as a NAU nursing student this Fall semester :) meaning that I have all my prerequisites done and then some. The nursing courses are taken in a set sequence which will take 5 semesters (Fall, Spring, Fall, Spring, Fall) You may take some of the required courses ahead of time or during the summer (not Nursing Clinical Type), but most of them you have to be "IN" the nursing program to even be able to register for the course. Now to get in as an official nursing student it is very competitive and you must have a high GPA, High HESI score, write an essay, have some volunteer experience, and 2 recommendations(As you may have already read). NAU - Yuma they choose 10 people per year, Flagstaff is 30, Tucson 10, and Indian program(?) 10. You also want to be sure that the courses you take ahead of time will transfer or are taken through NAU. I have taken my jr writing requirement and pathophysiology already and I am glad it is out of the way because I can concentrate on my clinicals. I will say that so far it is a top notch school with a highly qualified staff that creates a caring environment, but also strict (which I love because I hate cheaters and slackers). I hope this answers the question and clarifies things better for you. Also, I suggest looking on the NAU Nursing website and downloading the full application because that will help as well.

Not a coincidence, it's a Thai flag. I'm half.

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
Congrats! I just got mine too. Are you located in Yuma now? Yes, would be great to get students together to meet since there is only the 10 of us.

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
I may be moving so I'm not on edge anymore especially since I did not make the cut for the accelerated program. BUT If I do get in, it will definitely change things. It would be really hard to go through all this and make one of the 10 slots then just give it up. The state that I am moving to has an accelerated program and it will be less time, but I have to take organic chemistry which I loathe!!!! I agree your medic experience would make you more qualified than a person without, they do count highly on the 2 Anat & Phys grades and the HESI though. I had a year of hospital clinicals, but he said that that did not help in the accelerated anyway. They like the GPA, 2 AP grades and the HESI as indicators of how successful you will be in the program. No worries you will most likely get in......but keep me posted because if you get letters and I don't I will be left in the dark because they don't notify people at all if they do not get in.

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
Thanks for the update next week huh? Good luck to everyone. BOY RN what site did you apply for Yuma, Tucson, Flag? I think your chances are good. I will post if I hear anything and yall too!

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
Hmmm...your with NAU? If your in the accel program then you won't be here that long a few weeks. Your clinicals rotate all over Arizona. Yuma in my opinion is boring, but you will have plenty to keep you going with studying.

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
Okay, he said that you have to have scored a 75 or above on math, ap, and English Composition(? Maybe he means all the Reading Comp stuff) Which I knew that. Also, he said that maybe some areas like the learning styles was in the average and that they don't count that. I'm not sure what he's talking about there, but it still does not help. I still can't figure out how the Cumulative score came out to an 83.33%, but he said that they go by that score. I'm sorta ticked because I checked out my scores on the evolve site and I did higher than the class averages on everything except Biology and Chemistry was a few points lower and for me to only get the cum score that I did sucks. I think that the average score (according to my class average stats, not sure if yours will be different) is about an 83. Did you look at this on the evolve test results? What does your class average come out to be(I added all the scores and divided by 11)? I am sure this is how it's done because I applied for the accelerated and was given the class avg and I figured it out and that's how it's calculated. I wish I could go up there to Flagstaff and show them my printout, but then again of everyone has the same issue then we are all even then. If you find out any info. please let me know. I really hate the wait because I could move to another state, but it's pending my acceptance. At this point, I have no idea if I will get in or not. It would help to know how many applied for Yuma, what the average GPA is and HESI score. Oh well....time will tell.

The waiting game! For everyone starting Summer/Fall 2010
Thank you!!! Good Luck! Just a little poll I want to put out there....do you all think that the numbers for nursing school as far as applicants is high or low? I would assume it is high, but then again the economy is down and people may not be able to afford it? I don't know. Share your thoughts plz

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
HESI question for NAU's program. I took the HESI A2 once before and the report averaged all the 11 areas and gave an Overall Exam Average. Recently, the HESI I took had a different way of averaging. It had all 11 scores, but had 3 bold lines - English Lang Composite score, Science composite score and then a Cumulative Score. I'm confused because if all my 11 scores were averaged(like the first time) then I would have a higher overall score than what is printed. Also, according to the NAU website it says that math, A and P, and reading have to be at least a 75%. Well, if I just averaged those scores then I would have a 90. Right now, that Cumulative score on my printout is a 85. Just wondering...I already emailed my adviser w/ all this mess...I just don't want to get jipped.

NAU Traditional BSN Fall 2010
Thank you for the clarification. Now that makes sense that it's split and good to know that Yuma is not as competitive;) It's frustrating to plan and finally be able to apply and then get turned down for the accelerated program (which actually has not officially been done yet, but my HESI sucked in comparison). I'm no spring chicken and not that old yet either, but I'm ready to do this!! I'd be hesitant to continue to apply again. I might one last time for Spring, but it's doubtful. I also read that traveling for clinicals is what we would do also. It seems that all the NAU nursing students do this because they want us to experience other areas. As for people dropping out, there are a lot of non-residents that don't realize that there is going to be a lot of traveling for clinicals and this tacks on financial and emotional hardships. Most nursing programs don't do this and this is a unique situation that people need to consider before applying or at least when comparing schools. Thanks again for the info!
