Can anyone please help me? I am out of town right now and I left all of my paperwork at home. I am in section 9. With OP med center. I was looking over my school schedule and it says that I have class on Friday. I thought we did not have class on Friday. If you could message me that would be great! I filled out the registration process and used the codes that they gave for section 9, but now I'm in a panic thinking I may have used the incorrect ones. It says that I have Pharm.on Friday and the reference number is 321988. Did I totally screw this up? Please let me know. If you have the other reference numbers that would be great as well just so that I can double check. Also, what time is our degree audit on Monday the 11th for section 9/10? Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I am freaking out about dosage calc as well. What bothers me, is the study questions that were given on BB. There are errors in the answers that they gave us, and in one instance it says to answer in fractions, but the answer they gave was in decimal form. I am nervous about not answering in the correct form and being counted off for it. The Med terms seem like they will be a little easier just because it's multiple choice. What is everyone studying for dosage calculations? Is it chapters 1-4 or just the stuff on the study sheets? I know that she said that we didn't need to know everything in the chapters, but I am slightly confused.

It is 9781418015633 Dosage calculations a ratio-proportion approach. It has a kind of burnt orange cover with a black stripe with the title in it. I'm pretty sure the second edition.

It's the same thing for the preferred counties requirements though. I live in Clay county and if my points were not high enough I wouldn't have gotten in. They would have accepted someone with lower scores, just because they lived in Duval county. There are always exceptions, and even though the people from the diversity didn't get into the program the same way, they have to get out the same way. The standards may have been lowered (slightly) for them to get in, but they will be upheld to the same standards that we are during school, and they have to take the same test we do at the end.

Taking your child to day care for the first time will be heart-wrenching. My advice is to stay strong while you say goodbye. Let them see you leave on a positive note. Also, ask the director if you could come in for 30 min or so some days in advance just to get her acclimated. Show her it's not a place for her to be scared of. Trust me I had to go through it with four children and it broke my heart every time. For a while I took a job at the day care and it really reassured me that the teachers do care, and will keep her close the first couple of days. I would also start talking to her now about it, and let her know that she'll be going to "school" soon. If you can afford it, take her to pick out a new backpack and lunch box that you'll fill with snacks. Let her be involved in the process so that she's excited. My biggest advice though is when you drop her off, don't linger. It just makes it worse. Walk her to her classroom, giver her hugs and kisses, and go. If she is having a terrible fit (cross our fingers she doesn't) ask for the teacher's help, and tell her goodbye one last time. You both will be fine. Good luck!

I just applied for spring 2010 and was accepted. The application process was grueling but worth it. I don't remember my raw scores but I scored in the 96% and above for everything except spelling. That section is tough. I am an avid reader and read really fast yet still was running out of time at the end. I think I scored in the 89% for that section. Don't worry too much. Keep your grades up and strive for A's. If you get all B's you'll be dependent upon the NAT. Be prepared to shell out some serious money the first semester as well, there are skill kits $89, stethescopes $80-$160, BP cuffs, uniforms, shoes, books, titers, shots, background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening and more. Save up now. I used to study just to pass the test and then let my brain dumb what I had just learned. You can't do that here. You will need everything science related. I would take Micro before you take the test if at all possible. You could always take the test, then take it again after Micro. I would suggest that you wait until you have Micro before you apply as well unless you have higher than 198 points. There was a math section, but it was nothing like college algebra. I was really worried about that because I totally sucked at algebra. The math section was mostly word problems i.e. If the hospital buys their gauze at $5 a yard and you have to use 3 yards, how much would it cost the hospital. I didn't know it, but I heard there was a drop down calculator. You might want to ask that when you get there, or if you can bring one. I did all of mine on scratch paper. It was actually a lot simpler than I thought it would be. I would definitely wait until you are at least done with A&P II. I remember there being questions from there too.

From what I remember it was mostly vocabulary from A&P I&II. There was some Micro on there too, but mostly vocab as well. An example question would be what is the integumentary system? Know the phases of Mitosis, stuff like that. If you paid attention during classes, you should be fine.

I took the NAT about three months before the application was due. I had heard from many people that the books you can get to study with didn't help much. You can take it twice and they take the highest scores from each test to calculate your final score. My advice is to take the NAT without worrying about it, then see what sections you need to improve upon, study those sections, and when you retake the test focus on those. Also, there is no point deduction for wrong answers so guess-guess-guess! Especially in the reading comprehension and vocabulary sections. A lot of people don't even finish those. If you see that you are running out of time, answer SOMETHING. I scored a 120 on the NAT my first time taking it, but this is what I've heard from many people! Good luck.

You usually won't find out what your class schedule will be until after classes start. Also with some Hybrids, the schedule is sporadic, depending on what the teacher's schedule is.

FutureRN mom, could you bring it with you to the study session? Mine has shipped as well, but I'd like to get a head start. I'm going out of town the week before the test and won't get back until late Sun night and I'm not sure how much I'll be able to study.

Sure, I'll meet anywhere as well. I live in Orange Park, so maybe somewhere in the Mandarin Avenue's Mall would be good. I am open to study sun sight and next week sometime. Hopefully my med terms book will be in by then too. I did the stuff for dosage calc and really, once you memorize the facts that the nurse tutor said to memorize, it's really pretty simple. How should we get in touch with each other?

Hey tmooney, As long as it's the PIKAR method (or something to that effect) you should be alright. Try looking over some of the practice questions in the self study and if your answers match up there you should be fine. I didn't buy the online codes yet, but according to the papers, it is an optional additional learning tool for the test. I wouldn't mind getting together to study. I don't have a book yet (from the school) but I'm sure we can come up with practice questions. Do you have the med terms book? I'm not sure when mine is going to get in and I would like to take a look at the first couple of chapters. What side of town do you live on?

Hey everyone! I was doing the dosage calc. Topics 1&2 Basic Math...and the answers for 22 and 23 are wrong. The answer for 22 should be 13 1/6 and the answer for 23 should be 3 1/3 (they just put the answer in decimal form for that one, but didn't want others to make the same mistake.) Cheers!

FutureRnMom, I did try work source, but they said I didn't qualify. I do have a scholarship to pay for my classes, but everything else is completely out of pocket. Casperostrich I live off of Dr's Lake. I too could stand to lose several pounds. I gained about 40 after quitting smoking and have recently started again. (ugh). I have gotten chantix and my husband gets back from overseas in Jan so I hope to quit again as well. I'm unsure as to what I'll be wearing tomorrow because I don't know how awake I'll be in the morning. I am about 5'8 with short dark brown hair and two "beauty marks" above my lip.
