I am new on a LDRP floor. I am on my own now, but I was mostly trained for labor. However, I have been working both positions. I had two babies that needed PKU tests done the other night. I could not get it to save my life. This poor little newborn:( I felt so horrible and inadequate . I tried sticking him twice, and I could just not get the drops I needed. The nursery nurse I was asking to help me was clearly annoyed by me. How long before this was something you ladies were comfortable with? Any tips? Thank you in advance!

Hi all, I just recently moved into a LDRP from a surgical floor. I am about to come off orientation in one week. I feel terrified. I am starting to wonder if I made the wrong choice. Is this because I'm new, or have I made a terrible mistake? I want to give it six months before I throw in the towel. I'm allowed to go PRN in a few months, so I'm hoping that will help. I haven't worked full time in a while. My question is, did any of you labor nurses have feeling like this? Being scared or anxious? Is this a sign I'm not cut out for this? Or is this normal bc I'm new at it?

I don't know about you guys, but I did well on those tests! I spoke with Miss Em. So far I love my teachers, and I am really starting to get to know the girls and guy in my sections. Everyone seems great now, and I am starting to feel more comfortable after being to all my classes. Still super overwhelmed trying to figure out how I am going to work full time and do this , but you moms out there are my inspiration. If you can do this having kids around, I can do this working!

The handouts really help sort through what will be on the test!

I got my flash cards Janobia. The person who sold me the book mailed them out so I have been able to use them! Yay!

Gosh girl , I know. I need to get my polo! I need it for Monday. I'm going to have to sneak out of work this week to get it. Well Sunday night sound like a plan. Would be great if it was a weekly thing. Seeing as we are tested EVERY monday, lol.

Anyone want to get together Sunday? We can quiz one another, lol. I have to work in the AM but free from 4-7. I am thinking of heading to Barnes and Nobles at the Town center, but I am flexible.

Janobia - What department is she in? I work in research. Also, did you and Catherine meet up yesterday? How did it go? I have received 6 of my 13 from Amazon.com. Still neither my med tern or dosage calc book has come in yet! YIKES! I hope they come soon!

Merry Christmas guys! Don't get too angry, but always have an opinion. I think we are all intelligent, hard working , and caring individuals . Or we wouldn't be here. So just remember that ! Remember how lucky we are to have the opportunity all all.

I think we can all failry say that regaurdless of how good the program is , if it were us that wasn't admitted bc someone else was for such a program (pretend it's something different all together) I think it would be fair to say we would feel a little jipped. Sometimes it is hard to see it from all points of view. If it truly does good, I'm all for it. It's people that sbuse the systerm that irritate me. And all different types do that.

I persoanlly don't have a problem with the diveristy program. I have problems with the individuals taking advantage of finacial assistance. If you need it , you need it. And beleive me I used a ton of grants to get thorugh my undergrad. But I also worked, and was poor. Shopped at walmart and had the ugliest, oldest cell phone ever. When I see people getting everything paid for that don't have kids, have HUGE diamonds on their fingers , and are toting a Coach bag ,driving a brand new car, I get frustrated. I think that help should be given where help is needed. I over heard someone saying they scammed the sytem to get more FA than they should. This to me is a MUCH a bigger issue than the diversity program. That program is trying to do good. Whether or not if it's valid isn't for me to decide. I don't know the status of the minorities in JAX. Some studies must have shown that there was need to have it.

I attened USF for my undergrad in Chemistry. I looked into their nursing program , and boy do they mean business. It's a toughie ,but a good one.

Boy, I don't know how you ladies do it with these babies! Kudos to you all! A true inspriation;)

I'll def have my notes but will need you guys to bring your books. Looks like almost all of my books have shipped. Still haven't got them yet though....
