Hi There! I graduated in 2001 and started as a GPN making 10.50/hr. in Pa, When I passed my boards my pay increased to 11.10/hr I believe, seems so long ago, I am now making 25.00/hr. Hope this helps!

Hi, In my facility my DON is managing that, In my old facility before my MDS days I as senior charge nurse on my unit kept track of it until they added Unit Managers... Hope this helps..

I'm from Pa and never had a problem, I had my job before I graduated, I oriented until i passed my boards and worked at that facility for over 9 years, Maybe your looking in a field that is looking for RN's? Did you try LTC, I am in Florida now and work closely with my DON, I currently do MDS/ Care Planning, I have taken a break from working the floor due to the birth of my daughter but I have been interviewing new grads and my DON will not consider anyone unless they are dressed approperiately for an interview even if they are filling out an application, so maybe you need to look beyond your degree and step back and see how your presenting yourself, If you come accross as a strong nurse who has confidence in your skills then you should have no problem getting a job no matter what state your in!

Are you Applying in person? On line? I'm asking because in person is the way to go, I have been an LPN for almost 10 years and have had no problem finding jobs, I worked in the same facility for almost 6 years, left ( they say the grass is greener in other places, LOL ) came back and moved to Fl where i had a job within a week. This week we have been looking to hire a nurse and when i interview with my DON she tells me what she's looking for here are some of what she is looking for:, A strong spoken person who knows her job and can carry on a conversation without her dragging out the answer, make sure you bring out your stong points, DRESS TO IMPRESS!!! I can't tell you how many she interviewed but because they wore open toed shoes, jeans, showed off tatoos/piercings that she has no intention on hiring because they were not dressed approperiatly, have your resume' on hand, write neat, no abbrevations, and most off all be proud of what you do!! My advice for LPN's is Long Term Care, ALF's and Agency nursing, they seem to be the hot spots for LPN's... Hope this helps... Good Luck!

Hi, I'm an LPN licensed in Pa. and Fl. I applied for my Fl. license last April and finally got in about 31 days, I did however complete some con-ed classes online and send them proof of the courses taken as Pa. requires no con-ed. I am now living and working in Fl. and LOVE IT!! The cost of living is much lower than Pa.( I am from the northeast pa, right smack in the middle on the border between Pa. and Ny.) and the pay here in Fl. is about 5 to 10.00 more per /hr...Hope this helps you... Here's one for you, I left my facility, mind you I had worked there for almost 9 years, I had given notice in April to move to Fl. from Pa. While in Fl. I found out i was 6 weeks pregnant and wanted to move back to Pa so my facility gave me my job back and all was well until about the end of August when i ended up going on Maternity leave and came down to Fl to visit and ended up on hosp. bed rest, I ended up having my baby in Fl and had to wait 6 weeks to come back, mind you i had notified my facility, When i was ready to come back to Pa. i called my DON and she told me my job was waiting, Well I had been offered a great job here in Florida but with a new baby decided that Security of home out weighed starting over,,, anyway i get to Pa and guess what! NO JOB!!! My DON said that due to our human resources person leaving and them not replacing her they never had me fill out any paperwork for FMLA and my job had been filled and nothing was available... so here i am stuck with no job... anyway I reapplied and was given some crap about quitting without notice when i went on leave and they would not hire me back at that time... so I feel for you all... OH and I now have a awesome job here in Fl and am glad things worked out ...
