  1. It's been a long while since I've posted on the site, life has been quite hectic. I'm still working towards becoming an RN, just.. slowly at this point. I'm currently in school for Medical Administration, since I already have a pretty extensive backg...
  2. Questions about PCT vs. CNA

So, I've been interested in Nursing for almost two years now. I ended up getting an amazing job in Human Resources a while back and didn't make it to school - well, I'm once again unemployed and I've already started the enrollment process at a local ...
  3. A friend of mine became interested in Nursing after I sort of found my calling for it. I decided I really wanted to become an RN, I'm currently enrolling into a community college so I can start working towards the RN program. My friend, actually she'...
  4. After talking to family for a while on what I'm going to do (money/job-wise) while I'm in school full-time, I've come to a crossroads. I've been looking for jobs for the past couple of months, had a few interviews but to no avail. I've been looking a...
  5. Oh, also! I thought I'd mention - most of the threads I've seen on PCT programs are generally 8-12 week courses or so.. this is a 10 month program. I'm not sure how they're stretching out a 12 week program into 10 months, but it seems that's how it i...
  6. We live in the Tampa area, PCT gets around the same here. I've done a lot of research over the past couple years on Nursing professions and I'm glad she's interested in going back to school, I just don't think she took the time to figure out what she...
  7. heartless DON or reality check?

The DON seems very out of line. It's not easy to work at your normal level with such a mental burden weighing on you. If the DON knew such news could affect her performance they should have let the poor CNA take her leave, or at minimum given her the...
  8. Starting to burn out

Sounds like a bit of an overload to me. I can only imagine the stress. I say consider finding another floor if you really enjoy where you work. Do what you have to do; you can't be at your absolute best as a nurse if you're not able to take care of y...
  9. That's awesome! I'm sure you'll make a great Nurse!
  10. I've always been interested in Science; chemistry, biology, anthropology, all sorts. I've always felt I was destined to do something in life regarding helping people. I've always been the shoulder, or the rock, or the guiding voice for my friends, fa...
  11. Great story, I'll bet you'll find the perfect position for yourself as an RN! Keep up the good work!
  12. That's wonderful! I hope more people will share stories like this!
  13. Impressive! I can relate to taking care of family as being a helping factor into becoming a nurse. Hopefully you continue to enjoy being a nurse!
  14. That's awesome. I wish more people pursued their dreams from when they were kids. Not many people have true passion towards career paths anymore.
  15. So, here's the story: I'm 20 years old and I'm going to be challenging the CNA exam in the next few weeks after my father gets out of the hospital and settles at home. Recently, I spoke to a woman who said that she'd be willing to hire me as a CNA wi...
  16. Hi there, I'm preparing to challenge the CNA exam here in Tampa, FL. I'm going to take the exam at Florida Med Prep in Largo. My question for everybody is, should I wear a proper uniform (scrubs, shoes, etc.) to take the exam? I remember reading a...
  17. Wearing scrubs to CNA exam in Florida?

Yeah, I kinda feel that way. My biggest concern on scrubs is comfort since I'm not used to wearing them and I think I'm only buying one pair for now anyways; just for the exam. Hopefully I find something affordable and fitting tomorrow.
  18. Wearing scrubs to CNA exam in Florida?

That's pretty awesome, not gonna lie, how clever! That's a really good thought, I think I may just do that! Tomorrow I get to go looking for scrubs, should I go for all solids, or maybe a slightly colorful top? I don't want to go too over the top yo...
  19. Wearing scrubs to CNA exam in Florida?

Thanks very much! Agreed, it only makes sense to wear scrubs to the exam. To any job interview, regardless of the type, I always dress to impress, so the same should go for any medical job. Hopefully I can find some scrubs that fit well, stupid hormo...
  20. NON-Nurses Giving Shots in MD Offices

Surprising. But if she's certified in phlebotomy, wouldn't it be legal? I thought nurses and "technicians" per se, could draw blood if trained and certified/licensed. Either way, if she was using improper needles and whatnot, it definitely needs to b...
  21. Wearing scrubs to CNA exam in Florida?

Well, at least you passed! I'm excited and anxious to take the exam, but I can't really do it for a while; after my fathers surgery at least. Hopefully by then I'll find some nice scrubs to wear.
  22. Wearing scrubs to CNA exam in Florida?

Thanks very much for the straight forward reply. I plan on wearing a proper uniform without jewelry and whatnot. I just bought a pair of crocs today, not white unfortunately, but good lord they're amazingly comfy. I'm going out later this week for sc...
  23. I need some encouragement!

Take it all in stride. Show them how passionate you are about your work and remember.. the only way to gain respect is to give it. So just do the best you can and be proud! I'm sure you're doing just fine!
  24. I think I failed, and I'm panicking...

Take a deep breathe and relax for a moment. If you're this passionate about what you want to do and you studied hard, you'll probably pass. Don't overwhelm yourself. I'm sure you did fine. Let us know when you get your results and pass! :)
  25. Wearing scrubs to CNA exam in Florida?

Oh, oh! I have another question to add on to this. I've read the consensus of schools want white shoes for nursing. I assumed the CNA exam would be no different, which is fine. My question is, will Crocs be acceptable? I like them, and I'd like to ge...
