Due to covid -19 my department’s services was suspended ( cardiac rehabilitation services) so I was a sign to employee health while the the nurse usually working there was self quarantined. Mind you both mine and the employee health position is non union . after 3 weeks I was told by my HR director that they had to let nurses who are in Labor pool take over and get to work since union representatives were not happy that nurses were not being rotated, that is fare. But the thing that I don’t understand and is my question to you guys( who might know the answer) is , since employee health position is non- union, shouldn’t the priority go to a non uion nurse first instead of a uion nurse. I also asked to work on other floors , even willing to be transferred to a sister hospital and work exclusively with covid patients but the HR- director was pretty clear, since I was non- union , I couldn’t work on the floor. shouldn't same rule apply either way?! If I can’t work on the floor because I’m not union, shouldn’t the same law apply for a union nurse not to work in employee health This seems very discriminatory to me. thank you for the inputs.
