  1. Nope, nothing interesting. I have to take growth and development but she said I can try and test out of it, so I'll probably do that. I guess it's just a waiting game until school starts. At some point I'll have to do all the uniform, ID badge stuff, but that can probably wait a month or so.
  2. Thank you for that info! Have a good day and I'll see you in January!!
  3. Sounds good. I havn't recieved anything too much from the school other than the form to accept and the background check. I was waitlisted at # 1 and then got my letter last week, so maybe they will send me more info once they recieve my acceptance confirmation. I'm really excited! Do you know how the semesters work as far as time off and break b/t semesters?? When they say straight through is it -really straight through or will be get Christmas break or time b/t summer and fall sessions???
  4. Thank you!! Good luck with your studies!
  5. I think I have completed most of my gen eds and pre reqs too. I think all I have to take is growth and development. I can't wait to go and check it out! How long were you there?? So since they only have 30 people starting in Jan will we all be in the same class? I thought they let like 140 students in, or is that 140 total in the school and as students graduate then let more in?? hm...oh well! We are in!
  6. That's awesome!! So what are you taking?? I hope there area classes left when I get up there!!
  7. CharmedHd, Another questions.. I know you said that we have a few breaks at times, but do you know an estimate of how long the break b/t semesters really is. Is it longer between summer and fall start or maybe end of fall to start of spring???
  8. Hey! I just found out that we will be graduating in Aug 2011. For some reason I was thinking Dec 2011, so I'm good with that , that's fast enough without killing ourselves, right?! I haven't registered yet. I am going on Sept 29. Have you??
  9. Hmmmm. My undergrad GPA was around 3.0, not sure what exactly, but all of my pre-reqs that I have taken to be able to get it in, Chemistry, A & P I and II, college Algebra, were all A's and I have my CNA as well. That may be required, not sure ( I get all the different schools and their requirements mixed up). They also have a requirement that the TEAS test must be taken, so with your education and this new TEAS test requirment, I'd say you would be a great candidate! I applied last year to some places and didn't get in, but just continued my pre-reqs and here I go in Spring. DO NOT give up..If I have learned anything from this process it is that!! Getting into nursing school has been MUCH harder than I thought it would be, many road bumps and hurdles , but I'm excited now and am ready to get started.
  10. Thank you, Thank you!!! I will take your advice!!! You've been such a help. Thanks for taking the time to write all that, I am So NERVOUS , but you have really helped ease my mind. Have a good day!!
  11. CharmedHd, Summer 2011 would be quicker than CPCC, whch woudl put me getting done in December of 2011, since I do not believe they go summers. I just check the pass rates, one year they tied, 3 years Mercy was higher, and then one year CPCC was higher, but mercy was still at 93%. So, that's great info for me, thanks!! Yes, an 80 for a C is definitely different than college. That's a whole 10 points on most scales. I'm really nervous, b/c before the year of pre-reqs I've been doing, I have had NO experience in the health field or anything liek that. I just know I want to be a nurse. My B.A. was in Criminal Justice the first time around, so this is a huge shift in direction. It's what I want though, and I think I can do it, even though these forums have kind of scared me in a way about how HARD it is , especially the first semester. Do you have any advice as far as making it through without goign crazy, haha. Do you know something now that you wished you knew then!? Thanks for letting me pick your brain!!! You have been SO helpful!!!
  12. CharmedHd, THANK YOU so much for that information. I too am an older student and so I am trying to figure out which would be best for me. The thought of quitting my job and being a full time college student again is scary which is why I was thinking about the accelerated program, but I would never want to set myself up for disaster, so I'm thinking that one more semester is worth it , if it makes it a little less intense. I am starting in Spring 2010, so 5 semesters, that would mean I would be done after summer 2011??? Have you talked to anyone that went through the program at CPCC?? I am guessing that you enjoyed your learning experience at Mercy and woudl recommend it??3 Thanks for the help! It's one thing to talk to counsolers at the schools themselves, it's COMPLETELY different being able to get thoughts from students!! THANKS!!
  13. I have been accepted to Mercy and CPCC. I am in the process of deciding b/t the two. Does anyone have any advice?? I haven't heard about the horror stories with CPCC, then again, I haven't asked. So, they have problems getting spots at hospitals?? Any info would be great!!
  14. Hi, Is the accelerated program at Mercy any harder than the normal program?? Do you have to specify that you want to go into the accelerated program at the beginning? I have just been accepted to Spring 2010 , but would be all for getting it done faster if possible. I have already been to college once 5 years ago and am going back to pursue nursing so for me, the quicker the better. Any thoughts??
  15. Hi CharmedHd, I am a little confused on the nursing program time line at Mercy. I'm pretty sure it is 19 months and 5 semesters from what I've read, so if i were to start in Spring 2010, would it be Spring 2010, Summer 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011, Summer 2011 and then done?? So do they have a class graduating in the summer or do they skip summers and only do fall and spring semesters. Since you go there, I am hoping you can help clear this up for me. I have been accepted to CPCC and Mercy and have to make my decision ASAP as to where to go. Any recommendations?? Thanks!!
