  1. Thanks for the feedback guys. That makes me a little more hopeful. I'm taking the SAT's in one week! Hopefully my score will be halfway decent. :)
  2. Thanks for the suggestions Daytonite. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
  3. I'm applying to Mercy and Carolinas College nursing programs, but I'm really concerned about my chances of getting in. My college GPA is a 3.0, Ugh. I had a 3.27 until my last semester in college. Unfortunately do to life circumstances I got a 4 credit D and a few C's. Ugh. Killed my GPA. Anyway, I'm taking the SAT's in Jan, but math isn't my strong suit (especially word problems). I'm sure i'll get average scores, but they won't be enough to stand out from the crowd of other applicants and make up for my lower GPA. I do have a bachelor's degree, and I will have all but one of my non-nursing courses out of the way. Maybe that will help? So, just wondering what my chances are and if anyone has gotten into either school with a similar GPA? Thanks!
  4. Hey everyone! One of the nursing schools I'm applying to requires a one page essay for the application. These are the essay questions to chose from: 1. What personal characteristics do you possess that may help you to achieve your goal of becoming a registered nurse? 2. What personal characteristics do you possess that may inhibit your endeavor to become a registered nurse? 3. How will you balance your life situation with the demands of being a nursing student? Obviously the first and the third questions are pretty typical and not very hard to answer. I'm sure most applicants choose one of those questions. However, my GPA is pretty average (3.0) so I really want my essay to stand out. I'd like to do my essay on the second question, if I can think of a way to make it work. Do you all think this is a good idea? Or is it some kind of trap!? LOL Also, any ideas about how to answer that question? Thanks everyone!
  5. Hi everyone I'm considering applying to the commonwealth nursing program. I found this thread and thought I would revive it and see if any of you could answer some questions about the program. First any general info and your thoughts/opinions about the program would be welcome. I was also wondering about accecptance to the program and how competitive it is. Currently my GPA 2.982. I should be able to bring it up to at least a 3.0 and best case sanerio a 3.2 by the time I apply. I also already have a bachelor's and will have all of the non-nursing courses completed by the time I start the program. Not sure if that helps. Do you think I have a reasonable chance of being accecpted? Also, I am currently in a long distance relationship. My bf lives 3hrs away and I go visit him every other weekend and vice versa. So I'm wondering what the clinical/lab schedule is like and if I would still possibly have every other weekend free. *Sigh. I know this is a difficult situation, I'm just hoping there is some way it could work out. I would greatly appreciate any input, thanks in advance. :nuke:
